Which is such a lame "gotcha'" by FB. If they really cared about user engagement then surely removing user engagement, even in a competing, but tangential product, isn't the way to go.

I still disagree. Just because something isn't business viable doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. You should pretty much always do it - then decide if there's a market/think about how to market for it. A business for the sake of just making

Meh - I'd rather make something that's awesome for myself, then figure out marketing it so other people can benefit as well. I believe that thinking about a market and how to make money first is the wrong avenue to go down if you actually w

Sometimes caring deeply for the product means you need help to get it where it needs to be, and sometimes getting it where it needs to be means being acquired by another company to help get it there.

How many people were caught and not publicized? I think it's fairly impressive, all things considered, that after two IEDs went off in a crowded civilian area, only 3 people died. And that in less than a week, those responsible were killed

It's not very difficult to nab top-secret clearance, you just have to work on the right projects. One of my buddies, a recent grad, has a top-secret clearance because of the project he's on at Lockheed. In Huntsville, AL almost everyone has

Yep. My official title is IT Technical Specialist 2 - but I'm an iOS Developer if we're playing with words that actually mean something when said together. Funny enough though, I don't have a CS degree, I have an Art degree. Though everyone

Exactly. My brother may or may not be dealing with possession charges that would have warranted nothing more than a ticket if they happened ~60 miles to the West.

The government really tries to cripple you following any sort of felony. Isn't going to prison and not doing the things you normally do, for any extended amount of time, enough punishment as it is? Isn't the whole thing supposed to be about

The things is, I've just never had those problems you mention in the 7 apps I've shipped, and I always use .xibs. Some apps of mine are simple, and some are fairly complex. As a side note, I also hate, hate, hate using things like Balsamiq

He's probably talking about ARC for Objective-C, that automatically releases references and allocations when it's impossible for those allocations to be used again in scope.

I think the perfect thing to do is use a tool when it's necessary to use that tool, and no more/no less. Sometimes it's unnecessary and a pain in the ass to use .xibs or storyboards and other times it makes iterating through designs magnit

Here's why I say no it isn't: The end product, what my nib is for, has 12 labels, three UIView border bars (1px thick), two UIViews just for a differing background color in a couple spots, and a UIImage. Now you're right, I could set all th

This is still fairly trivial stuff, and I like the IDE a ton better in Xcode than Visual Studio (seriously, I shouldn't have to stop my current build just to add lines in VS - that's lame). Just open up your dual screen editor, put the xib

I like to think of Nibs like classes. A lot of times I'll have a certain design I want reused throughout the app, and this works perfectly. For instance, in an app I'm working on now, I have a few different views that have scroll-views insi

Man, no offense, but you seem extremely short-sighted here. So when you and a couple coworkers are architecting a system, deciding what the pipeline of information flow is going to be, where the security holes may be, stopping any latency o

We can put an ICBM on someone's doorstep ~8000km away in just over half of an hour. Putting a package ~4500km away in 15 may be doable. You just better be ready to catch it at a couple miles per second.

I've had it happen once, so about 6% of all apps/updates submit to them. It was for a button in an app that dials a number, and not checking if the device was telephony enabled. Which shouldn't matter because an iPod/Pad can't dial out, but

I don't know, another comment echoing the same thing is like two people talking to you. An upvote doesn't hold the same weight psychologically (at least to me). Maybe more could be said than "this", but that's just me.
