As other commenters have pointed out, the MobileMe letter was internal. Apple is not an outwardly bulleted-list kind of company.

When they originally released iPad 1, they probably didn't quite anticipate how graphical and visual the user interfaces would eventually turn out to be. I mean... they did release a device that's basically just a huge screen...

The letter he should have written is exactly the letter he did write. Apple is not a bulleted-list kind of company, nor are they a reveal-implementation-details kind of company. No one knows, nor do they need to know, where inside the organ

You worked on Voyeur. Cool! I know the band that did (some of) the soundtrack. ( http://www.karmacoda.com ) I always wish I had time to be involved in other peoples' film productions, specifically on the acting and the sound side. This was

Where is this thing supposed to go? Are they designing to a particular site?

"Apps that use location-based APIs for dispatch, fleet management, or emergency services will be rejected" Sounds to me like that would get Uber rejected?

Until you need a replacement part, and they're out of production... For a discontinued car (or, a car made by a defunct company) to still be drivable, there needs to be a sufficiently large community of enthusiasts around it that have figur

"Do people still drive the Ford Model T" The ones that love it do. They even restore them and have meets where hundreds of them get together in the same place. My car has a strong enthusiast community around it now and I hope that will cont

Are taxi companies currently allowed to self-insure? I would bet current insurance companies are more likely to fight any legal distinction between traditional and self-driving cars as it would require a change to their (lucrative) business

I don't follow... are the economies of scale that allow insurance companies to operate in the current market graduated such that if they only had to insure a fraction of the current driving population, they couldn't do it at the same cost p

Sorry but I will always want to drive myself. I have a great car that I love and because of the way the world has changed since it was made (20 years or so) I don't think they'll ever make anything quite like this again. I intend to keep it

Zimride arranges carpools for long trips, but Lyft is pretty much just an Uber clone with private individuals operating their personal cars. There is some vetting but no insurance or anything as far as I know.

"The original Ubercab model (allow anybody to sign up as a driver without any vetting of anything) was absolutely atrocious." What about Lyft? Isn't that essentially what they're doing?

It's really for people without a car. I have plenty of time to cook, but shopping for groceries without a car is annoying. Taking more than two bags at a time on the bus really sucks.

I'm of two minds on these. On the one hand, these will help close the "fun gap" between the city and the suburbs. One big problem with living in the suburbs is that you can't really drink a lot wherever you are, because you have to drive ho

$440M is pocket change compared to what the first shuttle cost and it is a small fraction compared to what I imagine a new one might cost. If they can pull it off, though, huge kudos to them.

I commute from SF and I hate it. Two hours of my day are spent on a bus five days a week. I hear Google has an office in the city and, if you do your time in Mountain View and they like you and want to keep you, they'll move you up to the c

To me the most frustrating thing about programming in Clojure (not that I'm generally frustrated by doing it, in fact I love it) are the totally cryptic/useless error messages, especially syntax errors that don't contain a line number (or t

If you want to live like a 20-something for the rest of your life, sure. Your cost structure changes as you get older and have things like houses, spouses, cars, and children.

Also, $6m really isn't that much these days. Might get you a nice house in the Silly Valley and a few years of living expenses, but that's not "set for life" money if you're in your 20s.

Sadly, flash also suffers from read-disturbs. USB sticks can die just from being read a lot. Plus, sometimes you want logs for troubleshooting... small SSDs are cheap.

Not really - most other desktop cases are much flimsier and don't come with as well designed packaging. I've had computers not POST after shipping because something was dislodged in transit, but that never happens with the Mac Pro.
