Most "professional" miners were actually undervolting to keep the power consumption down so it's really not that bad as long as the price is right. Anecdata but, 3 years ago I got an old mining RX 580 4GB for ~120 CAD (about

To be clear, I am 100% onboard with diversity and inclusion, I do believe in giving a fair chance to under-represented groups and I'd be happy to report discrimination in my organization to HR so that we can all build a more positive w

How would you even begin to prove something like that? No exec would be dumb enough to send an email that says "we see that the bottom 11% in your organization is mostly marginalized groups, we can't let you fire them". It wi

Any productivity blog that starts with the flawed premise that you can have the average (or even above-average Googlers) developer pump out bugfixes and features 8hrs/day, doing focused work without tiring sets unrealistic expectations

Realistically (and I am not singling out Apple here), we are more and more captive of an ecosystem. My Android phone is needed to login to most online service through 2FA, I can pay with it, have my calendar and emails on it. Losing my phon

Taking your comment in good faith. Snap has a lot of fluff around it that has questionable value (TV Shows, Games). In a recession the investors like to see that fluff gone because it's harder to raise money. Snap with 20% of its emplo

40G is purely overkill and is not utilized. Initial build had 8G and then I had 32G lying around so I added it. 4G is probably enough. Though nextcloud does use a lot of memory for miniature generation. As for the G4560, I can stream 1080p

A low-end x86 CPU will perform better than the RasPis. My current NAS is an Intel G4560 with 40GB of RAM and 4 HDD and it barely does over ~40W on average. The article's cluster does 18W which is better, but even over a year that'
