The Arch Wiki[1] has some good docs on power management, it's an interesting read even if you're not using Arch. The short of it though is as you suggest, even just installing TLP makes a monumental improvement to battery life. [1

It's a fun read and I always flick through it every time it gets posted, but I feel like it's swimming in anecdotes so I take it with a grain of salt.

Chromium is mostly unencumbered by Google bloatware, honestly it's the version most people should be using.

As soon as I see people dropping GIFs and image macros into intelligent discussions like this, I can't help but immediately become sceptical of what they're saying. It happens a lot in fairly serious technical computing blog posts

Parent commenter mentioned "most users," designers are the power users in this vertical and wouldn't constitute the majority.

As a casual observer and non-user I'm actually quite happy to see them all reach feature parity. I'm hopeful that layman users will start to rue having the community so fragmented and we may start seeing faster progress towards c

In particular reference to Twitter, I wonder if they tried to make a product out of what probably should have been a protocol.

I've noticed people coming from high level languages tend to struggle a bit with the borrow checker, did you guys experience this? How did you deal with it?

The ideal solution is a migration path; retain support for config in project root, but check a configuration directory first.

It's hard to get consistent performance when you have any form of memory management, caching, or a JIT behind the scenes. I feel like this is just something you have to accept when writing code in a high level language.

I feel like these comparisons are interesting but a bit one dimensional. A broad generalisation you could make is that frameworks with more features tend to be slower, but mean developers have to write less code. A LOC or character count f

I understand they're trying to protect their reputation, but the tone of the post is really defensive and hand-wavy which really sucks the compassion out of it.

Your `dtrt-indent-min-quality` tip has essentially solved my indentation detection issues, thanks! I've never really been a fan of multiple cursors, Vim users tend to use macros to solve this. It's a highly valuable thing to lear

Protocols trump services. I'm just as miffed that Slack became the developer chat platform of choice nowadays, it has many of the problems attributed to social network services.

Imgur was the epitome of setting user expectations way too high. The service they offered was fantastic but costly, but users came to expect they should get it for free without clutter and monetisation wrapped around it. It's a reinfo

It's a little disappointing these types of games have become known as "Flappy Bird clones" when Flappy Bird itself was just a clone of many other games before it. Any old Palm users remember SFCave?
