Actually, Google search has an ARPU of ~$256 per year [1] -- i.e. they're monetizing your eyeballs for about $20 a month. I applaud OpenAI: Please keep the service paid & ad-free. Thanks! [1] https://mondaynote.com/

You mean the same society that built thoroughfares, roads, stop lights, and laws for the benefit of transporting people and goods? Why wouldn't they modify the infrastructure to save a substantial fraction of the costs? Transportation

If you look at computer case fans, you can find commercial examples dating back to at least 2012 that are specifically meant to curb noise: https://www.overclock.net/threads/noiseblocker-nb-eloop-120m...

Fascinating article... But when you consider that the driving initial application was pumping water (out of coal mines), you have to acknowledge that pumping water would've also been a major concern for the Romans too -- i.e. hydrology

Most seed funds (sub-$2M checks) have to make a large number of investments (like 15 per partner every 2-3 years) to make the fund economics work. Sitting on as many boards would be impossible / ineffective. The situation is different
