Even on my UniFi gear its still a bit of a faff every time a manufacturer does it slightly differently (and still raises my suspicions when controlling google home devices doesn't work / not receiving mDNS broadcasts etc).

Roll back maybe 10-12 years ago. I had a Tomtom in my car, maybe £200. An iPod. Probably the same again. A point and shoot camera. Same again. A 3G WiFi stick and contract for my laptopp. A personal laptop that saw a lot of use. A dedicated

This is interesting- 6k signatures (and just the one (no duplicate) petition when searching seems very low. I suspect there isn’t a huge amount of knowledge in the Facebook-mass-share spheres that usually kick these petitions into the big n

Have you seen the average mobile ad? Targeted ads are driving you to buy that thing you’re thinking about anyway.

You’re gonna need a source on “most users” to fly that one. “Sensor Tower data reveals that U.S. iPhone users spent an average of $138 on apps in 2020, up 38% from 2019.”

Same boat at a similar age. (Ab)using AD taught me a lot about DNS, largely after the fact. Lots of “so that’s why that didn’t work…” moments later down the line.

Thankyou that’s really helpful! The CTO lead times on Mac are huge here so it’s either the pro with 16 or the max with 32. Ideally I’d go pro with 64.

I’m deliberating on how much RAM to get on my new MBP. Is 32gb going to stand me in good stead?

Similar vein, there’s a special place In hell for web / iOS developers who don’t flag input fields correctly to allow autofill / password managers to work. I see it in a lot of crappy legacy iOS apps.

Solicitor certification of documents is a farce here in the UK. My mortgage company had me have a solicitor certify bank statements etc. I said I didn’t have paper copies. They said printed PDFs would to, and to get the solicitors to certif

There aren’t many other widely used easily accessible services with as good video call quality as FaceTime in the UK. WhatsApp VC is trash.

You're right - its just too unpredictable. The bit that gets me is the hardware in laptops / devices. Apple seem to take some care in antenna design etc, and appear to be fairly fast / reliable, but many device manufacturers
