Decent article, but out of date by a few months. None of the drives listed use the newer SandForce controller, which skyrockets sequential writes into the 275 MB/s range, and random writes into 50K IOPS. These drives are where it's at (fo

If you're just sending SMS, why not use one of the abundant tier 1 providers ( http://www.usshortcodes.com/csc_aggregators.html ) and pay bulk rates? I think we get something around 1c per outgoing, and 1/3c per incoming.

I was about to list my favorite Verizon phones until I hit the last sentence, d'oh. I'd check out the Samsung Android phones on AT&T. They're just about the only ones that aren't an awful experience.

Sure, but I don't see why this translates into AT&T having the right to put up towers. I don't either, but apparently the federal government disagrees. The article doesn't cite this "law," however. If there's poor AT&T service in

I went with my wife and a friend (developer). We had a great time, there were a lot of exciting speakers. The only thing I would suggest in the future is to either spread it out over two days (probably not possible) or to cut down on the nu

It's the color. People want to be able to see the difference at the same time they're tasting it. That's easier to do with a base that is bright yellow than dark red.

As a rule though, those that have worked for start-ups and/or were founders will not normally go back to big-corp to do a 9 to 5, You'd be amazed how things change when you get into your 30's and start having kids. ;)

If by production you mean a mission-critical computer and not just a server in a datacenter, one of my previous companies has 486s with DOS still running machine tools (manufacturing equipment). It's amazing how long a computer can last whe

Two corrections: A.) RHEL 5.x (by default) comes with Python 2.4, not 2.5. B.) Yes you can. It is required in 3.x, though.

The bubble has already burst, as evidenced by the lack of value-generating apps (run once and never touched again) and the bottom falling out on prices. Apps are either free or 99 cents, with the exception a few proprietary platforms (or pr

You probably can add it. I know people removed the default lock screen from Sense via package and file removals. Incidentally, the Sense lock screen was one of the reasons I wanted to get away from it, the down-up motion kept unlocking my p

I updated my Incredible to Cyanogen 6 and am fairly impressed. I'm not a Sense-hater, but there were a couple annoyances that got to me, and the mostly-vanilla UI feels like how the phone was meant to be. The performance is hard to beat, to

Lots of straw men, lots of flawed premises. Google didn't choose Java because of VM security, they chose it because everyone on the planet knows it. Can the same be said for Objective-C? But every step of the way, they're going to have thi
