Competition is good. One small nit to pick -- The iPhone is capable of multitasking. It does it now. They just don't allow every app to do it. Battery life is bad enough as it is. I wonder how Droid's battery drain will compare. Also rememb

About the only really useful hint here is to turn off notifications. I tried out Growl when I first got my mini, but after a few weeks I realized it was adversly effecting my productivity, bouncing between email, IRC and IMs almost constant

I always appreciate transparency in support issues. I'm much happier knowing that an issue is being worked on than sitting in the dark wondering if anyone has noticed. I also see that they host their status blog outside their core network.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with how EBS connects to the EC2 instances so I assumed the incoming traffic was hitting their EC2 instance. Are you are saying that EBS is accessible from outside and that the attackers were able to discover its IP

Why weren't they running any monitoring on their instances? A simple graph of incoming traffic should have revealed the massive influx of packets and helped track things down more quickly. Just because a system is 'in the cloud' is no reaso

For http://www.movielandmarks.com I ended up caching the DVD images locally and serving them up myself. Some of the URL's served up by AWS go away and I don't re-request them after the initial add of a movie. I'm going to have to read thi
