This article may have held my attention longer if it had been a list. It lost me after the 7th paragraph when I realized he was going to continue to ramble on about lists. So I skipped to the final paragraph just to be sure.

When the backup drive get full Time Machine is going to delete the oldest backups, that's how it works. Using it for a permanent backup solution isn't too smart. On my systems I also backup to a BackupPC system for longer term storage.

This advice is just silly. In other words throw out all of the advances of using php, python, ruby, etc. server side because software has bugs. Or rely on a centralized managed blog host that is also susceptible to bugs, except that when th

This is new ground. It always takes more to develop the technology initially than it does in production. Once the technologies have been developed and refined the costs of space solar should come down considerably. Not to mention the added

Am I missing something? The holes can't be square, because of the rotating motion required to create them they will always have rounded corners. I'd like to see pictures of the holes created with this bit.

I would be more concerned with the charging circuitry in the UPS. They are designed for use with the batteries they install at the factory, not large capacity batteries. You may run into problems with it not being able to detect battery cap

hmm, it would be really handy if you could connect code.interact to a socket. Then when an error is raised you could telnet to the process and do a post-mortem on it...

Awesome article. I cut my teeth on 6502 assembly, cracking games for the Atari 800. We used some of the same techniques.

Pretty animation. Actual information = 0. Especially when using my first+last name since there are quite a few of us with the same name. Without being able to see what was used to generate each category it is nothing more than eye candy.

This article has been added to my 'must read' list. I find myself getting thrown into the CSS pit and need a solid intro to it. Thanks for posting it!

Interesting to see a New Yorker's view of SF, but why do we care? Who is Zed Shaw and why is he important?

I am not convinced the approval process is 'evil'. Capricious? yes. Opaque? You bet. But not evil. They have made some dumb decisions that are getting a good amount of press coverage in tech circles, but the general iPhone user doesn't care

It is interesting that the bridges all seem to be intact, even the one near the hypocenter. I wonder why? Were they shielded enough by the buildings, or were they just built strong enough to withstand it?

FYI they also run namesecure.com, but obscure it pretty well. The interface sucks and the service sucks even more. But it is cheaper than their normal Network Solutions portal. I switched to namecheap.com instead.
