The fastest language is the one that you know well enough that you are actually able to implement and release your ideas to your users. Benchmarks speed is only one part of the equation.

Very interesting! With such long exposures how is it that it doesn't become totally washed out and over-exposed? Is the pinhole aperture so small that with shorter exposures (days instead of months) that the images would be under-exposed?

I thought blinking text went out with MySpace... As for the info, it sounds like it isn't PayPal but the Indian Government that is the problem here.

Is this another case of scribd being used to pirate books? The last copyright on the book is 2006 and Paladin Press is still selling the book for $60.00 here http://www.paladin-press.com/product/The_Ultimate_Sniper/Sni...

Because mutt + IMAP is incredibly slow, even with header caching. I switched back to Thunderbird after running it for a few days. I think a big part of the difference is that TB pulls mail in the background while mutt doesn't.

I don't totally disagree. But I don't agree either. Maybe that's because I'm making enough off my ad supported app to pay my monthly iPhone bill. Not much more than that, but enough. http://brianlane.com/software/nascar-iphone/ and it isn

I find it somewhat silly that on finding out her son didn't match her first though was that he had been switched, rather than that there was an error in the testing. Which is more likely to happen?

When WHOIS info is correct it can be a big help. I've done the same for phishing scams hosted in the US. The person on the receiving end is usually somewhat confused at first, but eventually gets it.

This is one of the best articles linked from HN in the last few days. Well worth the read. I can't count the number of times I've hit a wall developing something and then as I explain it to someone else we simultaneously realize the solutio

IIRC the kernel needs to be compiled with the magic sysreq keys enabled, so if this doesn't work for you you will likely need to rebuild your kernel. Or grow a couple extra digits.
