What is wrong with people if they need to make a law for this? Seriously, just because a kid is playing outside instead of being confined indoors playing video games is no reason to call the cops.

Just change the price of electricity or make it tiered. Problem solved. Making a law seems overkill and a bit draconian. What business is it of the government what you do with your computer if you aren't doing anything malicious or

Yes, this could use some clarification. Aggregation is fine, by discrimination I meant censoring and blocking certain individuals because you don't like them. Unless it is something illegal tech companies should respect freedom of sp

Censorship and bias of information seem to be the major concerns I have with tech companies. Treating them as common carriers so they are not allowed to discriminate seems like something that is needed. Outside of that, I think they are d

A returned 1080TI was the only option for me. Everything else was taken. So far so good. I was the ONLY one at Fry's NOT buying a graphics card for mining (deep learning for me). 4 other people were there to get cards for mining.

I was shocked how difficult it was to get a 1080TI at the local store. Pardon my ignorance but with all the demand for graphics cards for cryptocurrency mining, why has a viable ASIC not become commonplace so miners aren't grabbing up

This seems a bit pricey compared to other offerings. Wouldn't an ASIC make things more economical? Seems like in terms of cost per performance, both AWS P3 spot instances and Paperspace v100 offerings are more economical. Are these pr

There is a similar attack against image classifiers. So is this just a proof of concept or can this be exploited in the wild? Based on my understanding you need to have access to network itself (weights, baisses, activation function, archit

I noticed that as well. It seems strange to me considering computers are a lot more accessible now. Back then there was no Internet, YouTube, blogs, etc, to learn. Just the occasional reference manual.

I think it also serves to illustrate that there are things that can be paid for that don't increase quality of life. Likewise, if person A and B buy from each other at the same monetary value, but the subjective value of what they &quo

You bring up a good point. That being, wealth can't be measured in monetary value only. Yet another case where GDP isn't tied to wealth.

The GDP is only an approximate measure and is only roughly correlated with wealth. There are many things that contribute to GDP but do absolutely nothing to increase wealth, prosperity, or productivity. This funny video reminds me of that:

That font is ridiculously huge. It's painful to read. Looks like the browser's font resize functionality is blocked but you can change the size by resizing your browser width. I really don't like that UI pattern.

100% agree with this. I relax a lot of the rules for my personal projects. I want linting to tell me when there is a potential problem. Other than that it just slows me down. If a computer can lint it, it can also beautify it. Leave me

What's the reason DRM can't be implemented as an open-source solution? Is the closed source just to prevent people from easily accessing the secret key or are there other reasons it needs to be closed source?
