I build random things in the “indie hacker” way but it’s always more about doing stuff for me than others. I find it enjoyable and fun, and that’s what drives it. If I get some traction, then great, but if not, I also get the tool I wanted

I think you can celebrate the ingenuity of a moment in a conflict without condoning the whole of it. Shooting down a plane with a helicopter is hard, this is the first time it happened as far as we know. Also, when I was taught about the V

I have the meta ray bans, they’re amazing. Not as a general computing device but as a hands free minimal one. I love using it in place of where you would usually think of an action cam. At the beach, go karting, on a run, riding a bike, on

I build tools all the time using AI tools that would have taken me 10x longer before. A couple examples below. The first example was a literal one shot of my dumping the full page html into cursor and asking it for the feature I needed. In

Just keep in mind that lucky risk-takers who can do this on a risk adjusted basis are a good thing. The problem is when they can't risk adjust and burn everything down.

I would be interested to see all the steel types ranked by total surface area within the polygon.

So an interesting trick I learned while suffering from the same issue is that roaming usually only applies to outbound data / SMS usage. So when I travel I disable data usage, and set my travel sim to be active and primary, but I can s

One point omitted in the article that matters is that we have two types of bikes. One is a normal bike. If you’re a member, this is free to rid for 45 minutes at a time as much as you want. The second is an electric assist bike which has th

Selling dust is the job of the business co founder before the product is built. This is how you verify there is customer demand before wasting everyone’s time. It’s surprisingly easy if you’re solving a real need. It’s also how you can demo

No, this is persistent. The URL works fine in an incognito window, but it never bound to the main account.

Bug report: I went through the guest credits, signed up for an account via Google oAuth, and then got dumped to a screen which says "You don't have access to this chat".

I think it’s pretty good, and it’s good to hear they’re working on better deploys and UX. But the big thing to note is backups. There just isn’t a good way to use this with critical data without bolting on some kind of custom backup solutio

My understanding is that even nutrition packaging is often off by up to 30%. Sorry, no source, just what I’ve heard a number of times. If I want to diet I typically build this in and it works well. If they’re actually off by 10% that’s not

I feel like if the apps have their own tracking then yes one click makes sense. If they include third party then multi consent also makes sense. They’re not contradictory points.

Is Apples third party though? I don’t know, genuinely asking. If no, then first party vs third party having different standards of consent seems reasonable?

https://cloud.gov/docs/overview/what-is-cloudgov/ is the key page. Seems like they want to have a centralized place where they do the PaaS work across the govt. Let’s see if this ends up being more or less co

Hard to give good answers without knowing real details. I think reading conflicting perspectives from HN based on guesses and biases we apply to what you wrote will likely be frustrating for you as well. Feel free to contact directly using

I think lots of the other comments are making wild assumptions leading to responses that don’t align with reality. Yours is actually the absolutely correct one. I agree with the solution wholeheartedly. The only difference is I have been tr

I don’t think anyone is saying it’s a good solution. It’s one amongst many bad ones that are used because that’s what we have. For example, I’ve been running a remote team for 8ish years now and I keep begging people to have conversations i

I own the nyu.scool domain. I contacted them years ago to tell them this is a security risk and they should take it and they didn’t bother to respond. MIT.school is the same story except they sent lawyers after me and sued me. These orgs do

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42944203 is the broader discussion on this claim from a month ago. I’m not taking a position here, just sharing the rabbit hole if people want to burn their day.

This is not true in my experience. We had our generic contract attorney screw up and then our litigation attorney scolded me for accepting and him for him providing advice on litigation matters where he wasn’t an expert. Lawyers are humans.

This seems like a great idea, and similar to my old approach of “we pay you for 10-20 hours of work across a few days to see how you work with us”. The downside we found was inconsistency. Candidate 1 and 2 get variable difficulty work. How
