I think you need to consider time horizons when analyzing these funds. You can buy SPY and it will win. Unless there is a market crash when you hit retirement age, in which case you are screwed until the market recovers. If you don't m

Do you believe that open source can exist on top of closed hardware? I ask because you can't produce the final result without having someone give you the firmware blob. To me, this seems like an analogue to building on top of open weig

Good call, I must have missed it. I read the whole blog then went searching for what S1 was.

In case you’re not sure what S1 is, here is the original paper: https://arxiv.org/html/2501.19393v1

Happy to hear about this. My mood tracker [0] for Pebble was the only one that has ever worked for me. Would love to have a comeback. [0] https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37221576

I think everyone agrees with you. The issue is who is building API first interfaces? The value an agent provides here is that it moves control from the publisher to the consumer (in the technical sense). “Twitter doesn’t want to let me acce

I have heard that Baltimore school performance is the counterpoint here, but I have never dug into it myself. Do you happen to know if there is a material point there or obfuscation of some form?

I believe they’re profitable on all unit economics other than the $200/month tier. The users who opt into this are the absolute “highest” users so you end up with an adverse selection issue with this plan.

Cava is pretty good in NYC and I’ve largely replaced Chipotle with them if I’m craving “bowl of food not made at home”. Would encourage you to try it out.

Can you explain this a bit more? I know there is a lot of shady stuff happening with Steam tradable items, but always fun to learn about new ones.

I hear people talking about this all the time on here, so let me pose a couple scenarios for consideration: A company has a dev team of 10 people. Hiring typically takes 3-4 months. Retention is ~2 years per employee. Assume the team size i

I am building an AI Slack Moderator bot [0] as a side project. I was thinking that this could be a cool intermediate layer to allow a user to ask questions about moderation logs. However I am not ready to build this for now. Feel free to ad

The glue from the stickers needed a solvent to remove from the lens after going out in Berlin and Amsterdam. Ruined my photos until I got it clean. Generally I like the idea of people not being photo focused and if this is the fix, I’m fine

I really enjoy the "Mark & Comment" prototype. I want to read more on paper, but really don't like digitizing my notes. This flow seems much better for me. As AR devices improve, I expect this kind of low tech / high

Nope just the usual stuff shoved in there by every damn thing I install. But I don’t touch it myself. In fact I even stripped out ohmyzsh and whatnot a few years ago.

I’ve been using it the past few days. It’s both magical and terrible. They do their own terminal management so you’re fighting env issues that make no sense. It somehow spawns a terminal that can’t find my installed version of node, so then

I don't see how you can possibly say that. If in 2007 you went to 100 jobs you would see 18.3% of foreign born people holding them vs 23.7% now. This is a change of nearly 30%. Of course people notice this and are concerned about it. I
