I've had the same headphones for 20 years and the mouse for 5. I had the mouse before that since 2001. I doubt all this crap is going to be functional 2 years down the line.

I had a 4070. It sold for 20% more than I paid for it. That was as a win.

It doesn't make sense at all. You can take screenshots of your shitty terminal with your phone. This is rent seeking dressed up in security paranoia.

Especially vendor statistics about how useful their product is, how much money it's going save you and what the performance is. I usually ask for proof of such claims. That makes the first vendor call interesting.

Yes. And if that's internal AWS statistics then I am moving my stuff out of AWS very quickly.

I couldn't think of a worse end user experience than using Workspaces/AppStream on a daily basis. I'd rather go work in McDonalds flipping burgers than live that life.

Yeah gaming is terrible. I just sold my GPU because I don't need it because the games are all shit.

To be fair I have the same experience with my HP LaserJet Pro (M148). Consumer garbage printers are consumer garbage printers.

As a follower of all things arrrrrrrr, the reason I didn't watch the Disney stuff was because I'm fucking fed up with their fucking garbage. I don't steal it or watch it in the cinema!

My "original out of box" OCD couldn't stare at a machine modded like that.

Gah I remember that. When I was first playing around with Linux at home I didn't have an Internet connection and the only way I could get it was relaying floppies back and forward from the university campus. This was about a mile walk

Fundamentally this is correct but there are less bad times to do it. In the UK for example, if you have reasonable capital in the bank, high interest rates and collapsing BTL market then buying something immediately is crack smoking insanit

Yeah there are plenty of third spaces. I go and play board games at my local cafe and library. Go on walks. Play sports (tennis, cycling). Have a book club. Drink way too much coffee.

Spoons is a fine example of what the old pubs were though. The cheapest place you could get casually fucked up. The new pubs are closing because they are not profitable as they are dead 80% of the time and the rest of the time they have to

They go out of business because 80% of the time they are empty. Only Friday and Saturday nights are profitable. You are paying for the dead time.

They didn't close for economic reasons. They have been slowly dying along with their patrons and have been ramping costs to cover this for the last couple of decades. They then tried to reinvent themselves. It has now reached the point

I don't think that's the case. I have three of them in my house. They all seem to drink a lot of coffee, read a lot of books and do a lot of sports together (all of them at the school).

I'll probably be shot for this one, but good! They're expensive as hell, horrible pits of socially acceptable alcoholism which tend to end up in misery for a lot of people. Everyone found better, healthier things to do and better

Well Qt on macOS is a shit show. I pretty much had to move half my stuff off Mac because two Qt based programs I work on regularly keep breaking every time they update macOS.
