It's a burn but it's accurate. Had three consultancies in (high end well known ones) and and two in house certified to their eyeballs professional cyber security experts in charge. All they did was tick a fuck load of boxes, run s

I developed a culture of laziness. With this comes great focus and time optimal solutions. At most there will be a TODO file in the directory the project is unceremoniously thrown into. If it’s not obvious what it does I might write a coupl

When I was a kid our teachers would bugger off and have a smoke occasionally. We all just carried on and did work. Perhaps the problem is with the children and by proxy the parents.

From experience of having kids at school for the last 20 years, they are little enclaves for authoritarian cults. Now we invented software and technology to enable this further. All that needs to come along is a matching political ideology

Has anyone looked at the fact most people are too poor to buy new vehicles? Here in the UK the average vehicle age is 11 years old, most vehicles are second hand and the EV battery warranties top at 8 years. The financial risk of an out of

Well usually you have to overpurchase up front and they sell you a 3 year lock in to make it affordable capital cost. Then when you eek over it temporarily, the sales guy calls you up within 10 nanoseconds to bill you for more. I was gettin

Splunk does not scale to large data sources. It fucks out at a few TB and then you have to spend hours on the phone trying to work out which combination of licenses and sales reps you need to get going again. By which time you can just suck

I actually had no idea there were markets for this. I have a huge box of cards from the mid 1990s here. I bought them from an actual shop in Cambridge, UK or traded them in person. I haven't even thought about the game since I stopped

I did some contract work for another credit agency many moons ago and they pretty much brainwashed all full time staff into referring to data subjects as customers. A fellow contractor made a very snide analogy of suggesting that the Nazis

I agree. YAML is hell. XML is just completely misunderstood. This one bit me recently. Parse it and see what happens. - yaml: - 01 - 08 This one works as expected: <list> <value>01</value>

You can make an NTFS USB stick as well then run bootsect on it and it’ll boot. That’ll take wim files of any size.

AWS support is pretty fucking terrible generally. We’re a very high rolling enterprise customer and it’s pretty obvious that some of their shit is being managed by two guys in a shed somewhere who don’t talk to each other.
