You could argue that the problem is that they’re all “matching apps”, not dating apps. They make connections, like a matchmaker. If their revenue model was based around second, third, fourth dates, etc, and maintaining a health relationship

I wish more companies would have interviewees conduct code reviews. Code reviews as an interview show a number of things you wouldn’t get from a typical interview—what opinions they have, what are the things they call out vs what they don’t

What people always get wrong about inflation statistics is that they’re really only meaningful when talking about the whole country. If you think CPI is wrong, well, it’s wrong for you. It’s wrong for every individual. But it’s right when y

Agriculture and, more importantly, grazing land can be frequently integrated with solar and wind. That wilderness isn’t going to be there anyway if we don’t address climate change as fast as we can.

Ok, but if you’re a well off 40 something mom trying to buy your daughter tickets to a Taylor Swift concert, what would you do? I’m willing to bet that the proportion of people using Perplexity to those using Google to search for concert ti

You think unions would solve this problem? Adding unions would just insert a whole other parallel management team that'll tell you what you can and can't do. They're not going to simplify anything.

This is generally the case in most cities, but less so at lower Manhattan speeds. Large diesel trucks produce a lot of pollution and noise. But those will take longer to electrify.

I think Washington also allows you to become a lawyer without having a law degree. I think you can work at a law firm as an apprentice. Presumably, that law firm would just decide to hire you as a lawyer. So, I bet it’s not that far off fro

One thing I’ve been thinking about re: Javelin (and MANPADS)—would it be better to be able to fire them remotely? ie let soldiers put a set of launch tubes in a bush or behind a rock, then use the targeting system from a separate location.
