Yeah. I kind of alluded to that in another part of the comment tree. In fact, I have bought food from the McDonalds in the main Copenhagen train station.

Nope. The cheapest restaurants will still exist but they will charge $10-15 or more. The exceptions will be hot dog stands and McDonalds, with the McDonalds sporting a long line. Regular people will be forced to cook most days of the week.

Yup. Like Denmark. Bay Area prices for not Bay Area compensation. The restaurant experience will move up the economic ladder so that it will be mostly for the rich.

What the article is saying is that there are group benefits to working together and that they speculate that the traders in America did better than the traders in Europe because they worked together. Most comments I read on Hacker News that

I think there is a disentangling of the two sides: media, states, companies, people, etc... It appears to be fractal. States are turning left and right. Cities going left and right. Suburbs going left and right. Media going left and right.

I probably wasn’t clear enough. I think there has been an increase in property crime in the suburbs but their violent crime rate doesn’t seem to have increased as much as it has in the cities. Violent crime has increased in the cities based

Yes. The economic downturn definitely was another major cause. There was increased crime even in the suburbs. However, that crime was mostly car break-ins, catalytic converter thefts, garage break-ins, package thefts. Violent crime doesn’t

I was born and raised in SF as well. SF is beginning to look and feel like late 80’s/early 90’s SF. Increase in hate crimes against Asians. Car break-ins. Burglaries. Fewer people on the streets. I think part of what is happening is th

Generally, it is the upper middle class that travel to different countries to go hiking. The lower class aren’t traveling to Japan to hike Mt Fuji. Also, hiking Mt. Fuji requires some care. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/

It reads exactly like a paid article. The higher end rags are more subtle than this nowadays. They inject the narrative in passing, offhand, as if it was a given. Like a pill shoved in the middle of a treat. This marks CNET as a low end rag

The EU imposes a 10% tariff on imported cars. That makes EU built EVs more competitive within the EU. Tesla is building that Berlin factory to decrease shipping costs and time and also to not have to pay the tariff. Perhaps more interesting

Remember that optical illusion that was either a woman’s neck or a swan? I think it’s the same thing here. The flow of traffic recast our perception of the sequence of cones as blocking the right lane instead of blocking the left lane or bo

Just one data point. The astronauts on the ISS spend 2 hours a day exercising. That apparently works in that once they get back on Earth after 6 months, they don’t have issues with weakened musculature. ISS is a microgravity environment.
