Is this actually affiliated with Roger Penrose? Seems extraordinarily rude to use his name otherwise. Was his permission sought? In fact, this may be seen as "passing off" in English law.

For those who are interested, there are much better arguments than this nowadays. The so-called cosmological arguments, particularly Kalaam, are much more convincing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmological_argument#

That would be massively influenced by culture. An atheist materialist from the West is going to have a totally different view to someone from a culture where burial has all sorts of codified behaviours and beliefs associated with it.

Don't Google give Mozilla lots of money? Presumably at some point they will just stipulate that blocking WebRequest be made unsupported? I mean, speaking as a Firefox user who never switched in the first place.

Seems like sterling advice if you want to make money. On the other hand, if you just love the game (and programming itself), and want to make it accessible to a modern audience, then fill your boots. In my case, I contacted the original aut

Brilliant idea. YouTube Kids isn't safe for kids IMO, I've said it loads. Good luck. Do you curate the videos or just prevent autosuggestions and autoplay?

Not this sort, as far as I'm aware. The variety where you collude with competitors can be under some legal systems. The point is to discourage market distortion. Some jurisdictions also make employee contract conditions of a similar na

The author finally gets on to their real motivation for writing the piece near the end, where they call for 100% inheritence tax and the abolition of familial solidarity. The expiring money idea, as pointed out by others, is silly and would

The BBC Domesday Project has some remarkable content, containing observations on life from an extraordinary range of people at the time it was made. I recently read an entry from a child of the age I would have been at the time, talking abo

This isn't even remotely confusing now. This move makes it exactly clear what was going on. Microsoft is doing to AI what they tried to do to Internet browsers back in the day. I wonder if they'd have been successful if they'

It's a lot simpler to do a single tender and outsource the whole problem of management to a large company than to recruit 20-30 people, project managers etc etc. Council staff are overstretched as it is. This just comes down to expedie

I was in London in the first decade of the 2000s, and pools were closing left, right and centre then too. The councils are terribly badly run, and the old buildings, with higher upkeep costs, are just too tempting to close when they're

From the article: "As I write this, with just a handful of browser tabs open, Slack, and a distraction-free writing app (iA Writer—it’s great), I’m consuming just about 11GB on my M2 MacBook Air." How the hell did we end up here?
