Enterprise IT works that way. You basically lease with option to buy servers/computers in bulk and refresh every 3-5 years.

In my experience, this's generally true for any large purchases (house, insurance, etc). The hard part is to find a good broker.

Is that true? Given the amount of torque Tesla can put to the tires, I would imagine it puts more wear and tear on the tires. Driving on highway means higher speed, which means higher temp to break down the rubber. Driving on local roads me

Yea, I figure that about brakes. I was wondering about tires.

90K for original tires and brakes? I don't know how EV brakes work, but tires should work the same. Are there any treads left?

Comment like this makes me wonder if you ever worked in enterprise before. Plenty of services/products have been cancelled/mothballed on large enterprise contracts once the services/products are no longer profitable, the serv

As a pure exercise and assume 5-10 year investment horizon. I would pick: MSFT, TSLA, AMD/NVDA (any semi-conductor/chip makers), DIS, JNJ Reason: * MSFT will win the cloud war. * TSLA doesn't even have real competitors. If El

I hate to be a negative person, but isn’t this what Steve Jobs called a feature, not a product? I work on trading systems before, custom built indices are very common. What’s stopping IB, Fidelity etc to simply put this in their system? I d

In finance, all the companies I've worked for/with run their critical infra on-prem. The only exception is my current company which needs cloud infr because of the size of data.

I don't think you get my point, but that's OK. Ben's example is wrong because he's suggesting someone to hold 100% equity all the way up to the end, which is wrong in most cases.

His math and sentiment is correct. In real life, if he tells Bob to invest all his investment saving in an index fund with less than 5 years before retirement (all his investment at this point will be 100% allocated to stocks), Ben should l

In the US, even reputable shops such as Vanguard lend shares out for short sellers. It’s one way to keep the fee low for consumers. I never heard of anyone losing their shares due to short sellers.

In my little world, MySQL was popular because we could get enterprise level support directly from MySQL. It was the default choice from that point on. I don't know if that has changed. AWS changed that pretty quickly.

I know nothing of this type of engineering. How do you even start a project like this? Map the bottom of the ocean, figure out all the danger zones? What is the cost of doing something like this?
