I think getting to be profitable is more important than finding a co-founder. It does indeed sound like neither really believed in the idea passionately.

You get one chance to make a good impression. People have moved on. Maybe there will be some killer app (farmville or something) released on top of wave, but I can't see why. Protocols are fairly easy work. It's getting people to use stuff

It's certainly a failure from just how much it was being hyped up as "the next internet" etc. Yeah I think quite possibly both are superior technically, and I think integrating Buzz with GMail was a good move, but I think they'd do better a

It is however surprising just how big mistakes Wave and Buzz have been (IMHO).

FWIW, I had an iPhone for 2 years or so. I probably made about 20 voice calls on it. I don't know it that's typical or not, but I agree - less people use the phone these days. On my Nexus one, I can sms, GTalk, facebook, email etc etc far e

I disagree. I certainly wouldn't buy a serious camera that tied me to any one online service. Definitely put that stuff on cheapy kids cameras, but not on better cameras.

The question should be: "Will it make a difference that degrades user experience". If no user ever notices, who cares? Most programmers don't use assembly language. Their code is full of redundancy and inefficient bloat. But it's a trade of

Logo top left looks terrible. Green on green makes the 'Tech' bit slightly unreadable and looks cludgy. Advert next to it, fair enough. Menu bar looks like it's trying to be 'retro' but failing miserably. Bad readability and looks like it w

Yeah point taken. I guess what I mean here is that it removes ambiguity and separates logic (What the code is going to do) from display (How I like my source code laid out). I wasn't suggesting that languages that don't have semicolons look

it may be 'clear' to you, but as has been pointed out, it can be ambiguous as to what the code will do. The example with a line starting with an open bracket is one such example. Why force yourself to remember edge cases, when you can just

And that's one of the reasons (IMHO) that bracketing style sucks. I was really explaining why rookies will make mistakes with js. The simplest way to prevent those types of errors is to always use ; and to use { on the same line style.

I don't actually remember what closure advanced mode does. It's quite possible it does remove ";" in some instances. But really, you either need a newline or a ";" to mark the end of a statement, so the question is fairly moot - it's gonna
