Short hair, color of a deer, long tail, claws... it sounds to me based solely on that description like a mountain lion. Makes me wonder if the townsfolk had not seen one before, so assumed it to be a 'weird looking wolf'. Then ag

Yeah, I got downvoted, but I was really trying to be philosophical and frame an opposing side. I walked around a while thinking on it, and that's all I came up with - more states. Our nation would look really gerrymandered, I think.

I actually don't user either. I don't much see the point of Vim weaseled into another environment, but I'm happy to listen and be convinced otherwise.

Does VSCode count? That's the first IDE to make me switch from Vim. I was reluctant at first, but now I feel lost without it. For saas, probably Workday. I really enjoy it compared to what we had used prior.

Ignore them? People are fickle, and forgetful. They only mob against a company or employer because it works. If everyone just ignored them, they'd stop doing it. The guys who made Kingdom Come Deliverance were pretty outspoken and b

> I keep hearing people say this, and it baffles me. If the majority of people feel a certain way, who's to say it's not the right way? Because, as parent said, the majority will usually benefit themselves even if it means harm

I'm making the argument that one concentrated area should not control the fate of a much larger area. I'm not, however, asserting that the larger area should control the fate of the concentrated area, either.

I'm not making that argument, either. I guess I'm playing devil's advocate. I honestly don't think either scenario is correct, so what's the solution?

If you break this argument down, it gets really muddled. Let's pick a state - Kansas, nice and rectangle. Let's say it was empty, and 10 farmers moved in and divided it 10 ways. They are happy to themselves on their huge plots o

I've met two 40-50 something ex-Oregoners who've said the same thing. They were extremely libertarian, and truly unlike anyone I'd met before. Almost like they came from some foreign(to me) culture. Both complained about

Interesting theory, but this widespread hack pretty much gives most people plausible deniability in my opinion.

Should have went read-only when the flood started. If they didn't have the forethought to have a read-only mode, then yes, show a failwhale while they investigate.

I can relate to this. There are two interviews that gave me really bad anxiety, but I think it's because I went in with anxiety as both required moving across the country in different directions. The first I was accepted, but I think

The boomers will be dead long before the system shocks itself. Probably the tail end of Gen Xers or Millenials that will get royally screwed, if I had to guess.

Oh, I'm not by any means saying it's the most popular language. I'm just comparing strictly based on the comment, people who like go vs people who will never use it because of its lack of generics.

Based on the popularity of the language alone, I can say rather definitely the latter.

Thanks for sharing these links. I think the second video was the most enlightening. Even the security guard had the insight to think "why would someone fake a $2 bill?".

I'd like to see it thoroughly planned out, and a real cost estimate. Most of the trip is plainsland...simple. Getting through the Rockies, way more complicated. I've tried to read on the subject but estimates are an order of ma

I'm still hoping for rail. It's much more carbon friendly, and has the opportunity to be way less stressful. I'd do 18 hours on a NY to LA if I could walk around, eat, talk, sleep, etc over a 5 hour misery ride in an airplan

I was with you on the HN part...but then you compared it to Twitter. HN is full of mostly educated, inspired, helpful people. Twitter is a dumpster fire full of people spreading lies and rumors, arguing, and trying to get each other fired

Why not offer a model of pay-for-support, instead of ramming us with ads and saying "LOL it's free so f off"? Not you specifically, or even Google specifically, but that seems to be a common theme. I'm sure plenty of p

Grocery shopping was one of my guilty pleasures. Gets me out of the house, walking around, thinking of combinations to cook, etc. Since March, I've been 100% Instacart, and notice them all over my neighborhood each day, so certainly

No, they fold to faux mob voices. Twitter has far too much power behind it, currently. I can't wait until companies treat it like the cess pool it really is.

Because this is rarely, if ever, the case. Going after employers has the single goal of getting someone fired. It's mob punishment, and nothing more. It sets a scary precedent when free speech is restricted for this reason. 'T

Currently, it's not easy. I'm a bit of a phone/tiny computer geek, so I read a lot. When I was younger, where a product was made was something everyone wanted to know. China was seen as junk, and rightly so. Now, nobody c
