Yes absolutely. Proton is a great product. But underneath, it's still Linux. So saying 'Linux support is terrible, Proton is better' makes absolutely zero sense.

Proton is good, but in no measure 'better'. Linux isn't as unstable as everyone makes it out to be. Quite the opposite. Proton still has to work on linux, afterall. If Linux support bitrots quickly, then so does everyone

So you want to use others' hard work for your own financial gain? That doesn't seem overly fair. I get your point, in a perfect world folks like you might land a nice job and kick back 10k as a thanks. Unfortunately, that doesn&

It's sad that the CEO behind Unreal, Sweeney, bought Rocket League, which uses Unreal, and promptly removed Linux support.

Nvidia Shield, 2 Xbox controllers, Retrox. Everything you need to bring back the coop days! That said, I also wish newer games embraced it more, but at least I found some outlet.

Yeah, I have a co-worker notorious about this. I just quit answering until he writes something amounting to a statement. It's annoying to keep clicking away from a problem for niceties, especially when it's every...single..day.

Sure it does. If factory farms failed to exist, we'd all have to buy local. And costs are going to skyrocket, and consumption is going to go down. If everyone reduced consumption just to reduce it, factory farms would still exist, ju

You're right about buses, but I don't think that's inherent to buses, just how we've implemented them. In other countries, buses are comfortable and air conditioned and basically anyone and everyone rides them. If we c

Just a question - why build public transport at all if it's undesirable? That just pushes everyone who can afford NOT to take it out, which leads to pollution, but worse, the effect that the populace using the public transportation ar

That's a bit of a simplification. Fact is, real estate is at or near peak as seen by slowing prices. The interest rate for any money vehicle is near zero. The stock market is the only place to stash it.

OK, but I'm asking for -how-, truly. My father is getting up there, but still raises cattle to this day. He buys them as calves, and sells them the next year. They mainly eat grass and hay, but admittedly there is -some- corn feed i

I don't have the numbers in front of me, but this doesn't seem like it could be true. My Dad always raised cattle as a pastime, just a handful, one for meat and sold the rest. Never subsidized, and he usually broke just about e

Really, we should be measuring max temp by wet bulb. There are places that are literally fatal to sit outside in, but Death Valley ain't one of them.

Similarly, I feel cheated. We were always taught growing up that kids need more sleep than adults and older people. As a teen into my mid 20s, I never slept more than 4 or 5 hours a night and felt great. Now, if I sleep less than 7 hours

I'll just reply once here. Thanks for the source. Keep in mind each cell phone can/does have multiple ARM chips, which I attribute still to 'Linux', maybe that's not fair. I tried to get real stats and didn't

I for one would welcome this. Firstly, as mentioned, it gives people incentive to look into RiscV. That aside, for far too long QCOM has had a monopoly on the phone chip market. Patents aside, which increasingly became irrelevant due to t

Agreed, just pointing it out. In our system, we had to display 'Taiwan, Province of China' for the Chinese users, and 'Taiwan' to everyone else, though that was just UI and the backend treated it identically.

As someone who used to work in country list related things, the existence of Taiwan as a country flag codepoint at all would be an issue for China. China will complain if you include Taiwan, and Taiwan will complain if omitted, so it'

This was a single family home, 3 bed 1 bath. Incidentally, the basement was smaller than the house itself, which I guess why the hatch wasn't in the bathroom itself(which was over empty crawlspace). I'd never considered the child

For some reason this reminds me. My old house, built in the 40s, had a mysterious small hatch in the closet floor across from the bathroom. One day I opened it and it was just a cutout of the floor, directly over the washing machine in the
