The insularity isn't behind that, in my opinion. It's more that almost all of Google's features are ad-funded, and the company has chosen to make lots of (apparently) free, but poorly supported and uncertain products, rather

A big part of the psychology of home buyers is about resale potential or value. This is why, for example, single people care about school districts, people buy more bedrooms than they need, etc. So to resell an assumed mortgage, you have to

This doesn't seem like a complete solution, as the article notes. The seller would have to find another assumable loan to be able to buy an equivalent replacement home. Taken to the furthest conclusion, the home-owning class would even

I think the part that's missing from most of these scenarios is that all this surveillance can be retroactive. Now, you might say that things can't be made retroactively illegal, but selective enforcement can be done retroactively

I think there's a solid argument that e-bikes are essentially motorcycles lacking a variety of safety gear. That may be an advantage where you can ride e-bikes on dedicated bike lanes, but is probably a disadvantage if you ride e-bikes

How much damage does a routine underperformer cause vs. creating a very toxic corporate culture where routine underperformers learn that it's easier to slow others down and those same managers now hire underperformers on purpose?
