I’ve been using bun with NextJS 14 and it’s worked really well the last few months. So well in fact that I forgot that the lack of stack traces was due to Bun. I forgot NextJS even gives you stack traces in the browser, it’s been that long.

I dunno it feels entirely fair since isn’t one of the benefits of Tauri the fact that it uses your system’s existing WebKit instead of bundling a full chromium? That makes them also use less memory etc.

I do think in general, Apple is great at continuous improvement. But have you used Siri? “Only works sometimes”, yes if all you ever ask is “what time is it”, what’s the weather, and maybe 5-6 other canned prompts. Half the time it doesn’t

Totally agree. 10 years ago the hot thing for programmers was photography. Now (or the last few years) woodworking and other similar DIY pursuits seem to be all the rage.

Yeah all the bike shedding is definitely a thing. When I was starting out, I was solving problems for co-workers constantly with mini programs/tools (often 1-2 page websites), and I could see them use those tools to solve their daily t

That's exactly what I'm asking for. Yes, technically LLMs do generate text but with some prompt engineering, can be used to classify things, especially ones that require Natural Language Understanding. We have literally used them

There's just no excuse for this anymore – why don't they apply their own state-of-the-art LLMs to analyze these and flag the adds as pushing potentially illegal substances? Because as it's painfully obvious now, Meta doesn&#x

Yes, I am willingly comparing apples to oranges. I'm comparing the idea is that most IT work (like a lot of white collar work in general) is abstract, and less well-defined. Whereas with a lot of the trades in the physical realm, a lot

I wonder how much of this is also that the solutions feel less tangible and more abstract, and fundamentally less satisfying. In carpentry or Plumbing for example, you can point to something being completed. The valve was either replaced or

How is Apple allowing this under the vendor’s Apple Developer account? We were forced to release our app with the Gov agency’s account to ensure there isn’t any confusion (3-4 years ago). And I kind of agree with that policy (as you can alr

Yes I’ve read this is a huge problem for these agencies. They invest in training people, getting them clearances, etc and then the people leave for the private sector because they make 5x as an ex-NSA cybersecurity expert etc.

It's still way way way cheaper to "fill" an EV tank in the US because the corresponding electricity charges are also low (in many regions). It's something like $5-7 to fully charge an EV from 0 where I am (Washington DC
