You can sell low-level exploits quite profitably. You don’t need to make it, like, an official employment. If you can find gold, why be employed in a gold-mining company for a salary if you can just sell your findings?

You don’t understand. Women _want_ to work, like most people. House caring is a shitty, mostly thankless, boring, unpaid job — most of white collar jobs are much better in comparison. Rich people outsource most difficult parts to hired help

I don’t know, is Switzerland civilized country? We don’t have single payer. Neither are most of Europe (except Nordics).

I wonder why this really common use case requires so much esoteric SQL/Postgres knowledge. While everything is well explained, the solution is not simple, by all means. I don’t like complex solutions to common problems.

For billions of nodes, there are two options: Graphistry (and it might be less than that, 100M is OK), and Pajek, which is weird, but can handle billions of nodes. Neo4j, cytoscape, etc will not work.

Yes, except there is no “massive care”. If people are OK to install other companies’ rootkits to their critical infrastructure, they will not care about anything else, too.

The industry couldn’t even prepare for a bad Crowdstrike update. And yet, it figured things out in a few days or so. The ability to prepare for catastrophic scenarios is overestimated. The ability to survive them is underestimated.

It is not just the video cards. CPUs, mainboards, cooling systems, losses/inefficiencies… E.g. 4x4090 Comino Grando workstation is rated for 2811W, which is OK. 8x will probably trip my circuit breaker already, unless I plug it into hi

But this is not a problem, if you have money to buy 1TB memory, you can easily get a motherboard that supports it for around $800-$1000. It will be cheaper than attempting to build a cluster with 4x256GB RAM. GPU inference is another thing,

Well, if you try to run your own business of any type, you suddenly realize why there's need for marketing. Things don't sell themselves. Nobody beats a path to your door even with the best of mousetraps.

No, it didn’t. Not for economic reasons — after the fall of USSR, many families started to make “homemade pizzas” of various quality. The reason was that nobody actually knew what is a pizza. USSR was a totalitarian state. All information f

I was working as a software engineer in finance (high-frequency trading, etc). When COVID started, I wanted to do something about it, so I joined a PhD program in medicine. Now I work as a HPC software engineer in neuroscience.
