I rarely sign up for betas but this is pretty intriguing. Great job, I look forward to giving this a more in-depth tire-kicking.

Get over yourself. The guy wrote something that suited his own needs and released it so that others could use it too if they wanted. Programmers ported it to other languages because they liked the idea and wanted to see it thrive -- I've us

bonus points if the company was trying to adapt and evolve and innovate instead of clinging to a pre-internet business model. I agree with your basic point, but I really hate this argument -- it's a "blame the victim" justification. Compa

I've been looking for a news app that I like for iPhone for a while now. The NYTimes app was my go-to, until they made it subscription only (I would happily pay for the app if they would just let me). I thought Flipboard held some promise,

A service like this really needs rock-solid UX and this just isn't there yet. But this has enormous potential, and I'll definitely keep an eye on it.

I asked a straightforward question about whether an app that can't be used to create a spreadsheet should be considered a spreadsheet app, and because of that I "represent one of the worst forces at work in the world." I neither ridiculed n

One feature that’s still missing, though, is actually running spreadsheet-style calculations on your numbers in Grid. Doesn't this preclude Grid from being a spreadsheet app?

I've never been much of a reader, but I absolutely loved these books when I was a kid. Finding one I hadn't read yet at the school library was like finding hidden treasure. RIP Mr. Sobol, you brought many children a lot of joy.

Mission Control, as defined in the video, is absolutely brilliant, and in a perfect world would replace the current method for app switching. I also love the "swipe from the bottom" implementation, though honestly even keeping the current h

I think your point actually reinforces the quote you disagree with. You say people with high levels of both skill sets are "very very rare," which is probably true, but that's exactly why the companies who have those people will become th

I would add a ninth reason -- perceived length. Over the course of my career, it's been proven true that conversion rates are higher when the shorter the form appears to be. Basically, don't ask for anything that isn't necessary from a data
