UPDATE: It turns out the slowdown at 40,000 was due to the Web Inspector being open (I have no idea why!) It's actually still pretty damn smooth at a MILLION particles! Crazy!

It's actually 30,000 particles, not 80,000. See the source: "numLines = 30000". If you set a breakpoint at that line (28), then you can edit the variable in the console to whatever you want. You can make it smaller without setting the break

As somebody who's lived in the UK all their life, I can honestly say I'm flabbergasted every time I read something about the US healthcare system. It's like how Japanese cities don't have street names ( http://sivers.org/jadr ), that comple

How hard is Xen to configure and maintain? I like VPSs because they're mostly hassle free, and all my projects are separate and isolated. It seems like running all my projects on one box would be a massive headache!

Their VPS service looks fantastic also: http://www.hetzner.de/en/hosting/produktmatrix_vserver/vserv... Their 2GB plan is 3x cheaper than Linode…and you get over 4x the data transfer! Does anyone know how the performance compares?

You can go too far with A/B tests, and maybe the Google execs realised that. You just end up with a fragment of your user base who like everything and convert well, and likely a majority who don't (to varying degrees, of course.) To mak

Oh, wow! I'd been working on what appears to be a Meteor-like framework with the very premise of "All the same APIs are available on the client and the server — including database APIs!" for the past few days. It came from my frustration of

Exactly. The problem with this and MacRuby is you're only really using the Ruby syntax. The idioms are still mostly the same, which IMO is what makes Ruby shine, not necessarily just the syntax.

We've just got to hope there aren't any major catastrophes involving life early on. Personal space travel could easily go the way of Concorde and commercial supersonic travel if companies like SpaceX and Virgin Galactic don't get it spot on

In the UK the Sales of Goods Act just states the goods must work for a 'reasonable' amount of time, no exact time frames are given. And with a £1000+ computer, a reasonable amount of time in my opinion as a consumer would be at least 3 year
