The minute your project proves be remotely successful this will be true. There's no escaping it. Don't let it keep you up at night, just keep plugging away. Most of the time when it comes to a good idea there's enough money and demand for i

If there's such huge demand, you'd think that maybe they'd move it somewhere larger where they can satisfy more of that demand? If you want developers to get and stay excited about your platform, making it impossible to come to your confere

WOW is definitely heading into its twilight. If I was a betting man, I'd say MOP is the last expansion they'll put a lot of resources behind before throwing everything at Titan.

The bulk of today's web devs are coming from Rails and it's nice to have that hand-holding when you're trying to cross that chasm. Besides, a lot of the concepts that RoR were built on are sound (i.e. don't reinvent the wheel every time you

Much smaller memory footprint, faster execution times, consistency of writing your server code and client code in the same language, etc. You could say all of these things are subjective, but so is the word "progress".

Building ICS takes at least 3-4 hours from what I've heard first-hand from people at my company that have done it.

Highly visible hacker/entrepreneur stepping down from running a resource that almost every hacker that reads HN probably uses on a nearly daily basis. Seems pretty relevant to me.

You start getting into some deep philosophical stuff going down that path. Why is there such a huge Android vs iOS debate? Because people define themselves by what "team" they're on. Be it computers, phones, programming languages, sports, p

Nice sarcasm. The fact still remains that maybe DHH should take a deep breath and remember back before he was a millionaire. I'm by no means condoning what Curebit has done but unless DHH tried to contact them discreetly and they told him t

You are a true engineer right to the end. Sticking your foot in your mouth and then continually trying to use logic to climb out of the hole you dug for yourself. The next time someone of note passes away, resist the urge to take them down

I know I'm being bitter and jaded, but I assume they're just gonna put it on the shelf for a few months, hope everyone forgets about it and then try to get it through quietly attached to some other giant spending bill or something.

The content is the link and the discussing of Google using GoDaddy. The presentation is the fact there's a hashtag in the title and everyone with their underwear in a twist over a # sign.

You and all the people hating on hashtags are busy engaging in your own groupthink. How about you focus more on the content and less on the presentation?

I can only hope that running my app in dev mode in 3.2 won't bleed memory 40 MB per request. I have no such issues in production environment and it makes testing/debugging a royal pain.

So doing things other than thinking about work is "wasting time", huh? I guess as an employer you want to hire people that will grind themselves into dust making you rich, but as an employee I work to live, not the other way around.
