Everything is now a bloated Electron app where all the features have been deleted. Try comparing Spotify to Amarok/Foobar/Clementine. Even Firefox seems to just keep stripping out useful functionality for power users for some biza

Yup, Youtube Vanced (which not only blocks ads but sponsor segments too, while iOS can barely even block the ads in a browser) and proper Firefox are the main reasons I can't consider iOS.

This seems like a silly way to look at production though - you could say every kWh in the system is a "marginal kWh" if you think about it like this. Turning on your oven, charging your car, etc would be similar in effect. If you

My understanding is it's essentially just as efficient as a resistive electrical heater as all the energy used in your video card is converted to heat at some point in the process. There may be some very minor loss here, but I'm n

Yeah, during the winter I mine on my video card because I'm basically just swapping some of my natural gas heat out for a few hundred watts of electric heat and my electricity is primarily provided by nuclear and hydro. Kind of weird t

That's true, but it seems like WinForms is basically a dead end at this point, not much maintenance work is put into it and you have to jump through some serious hoops to make basic stuff like DPI scaling work even last I checked. Comp

Interesting, I did look at MobX briefly but pretty quickly concluded it seemed like overkill for our use case where Redux, Redux Toolkit and Thunk would pretty much solve everything we needed and seemed comparatively simple to follow, I

I did look at Flutter but pretty much concluded that it was still fairly immature and didn't have great 3rd party libraries available for things like graphing and data tables (sort, filter, group, etc, with all the UI work done for you

Yep. We recently did an assessment of available UI libraries and pretty much concluded the best maintained libraries with a modern look and feel are all web-focused and we're likely to have to settle for building an electron app if we

I'm not terribly familiar with U2F itself, but I assume the site has a way to identify you're using the right key that can be reused for this purpose?

You can't generate an attested key with the devtools. It won't be signed by a 3rd party that CloudFlare has approved.

There's always CAPTCHA bypasses if you're willing to pay, there've been sites operating for decades that will take a captcha URL and spit out the appropriate response by just feeding it to humans. This is just a different way

I believe the idea here is you need to buy actual FIDO U2F keys and they could then be revoked on a per-key basis if you're caught abusing them as they're signed by a 3rd party so can't just be emulated. Meaning you need to b

I'm not sure that's a good solution, likely you'd just see people paying ransoms but keeping it quiet and not making these attacks public. Arguably, even more harmful.

I'm not so sure, by this logic we should have ad blocking by default as well, however that's a recipe for getting your browser banned by popular sites.
