Yeah, but then you'd need LaunchKey, which is worse. Nothing against them personally, but handling your user account protection with a for-profit third-party seems far worse than having a password prompt.

I agree! The Hemingway mode at seems to be geared (ironically) at technical writing. My English teacher wouldn't like it — it encourages simplification of language and minimization of word variation. Sometimes it's good to write l

It's not an awareness problem, it's a monopoly problem. For example, I live in an affluent suburb of Philadelphia. The only ISPs we have are Verizon and Comcast. The banner might as well read "Pick Your Poison".

It's much more expensive than $0.99/mo. That's just for a one-day trial. The cheapest plan they offer is $10/month.

That's a really bad analogy. People don't use Ruby because C's standard library works differently across different platforms. This isn't about "rewriting jQuery methods with vanilla js". It's about using t

Honestly, when Svbtle first came out, I thought it was really cool and I wanted to use it. Now I use Medium and I have no interest in it — and most people I know (who blog) do the same these days.

I don't think they ever had an undo feature. I remember when the platform was first introduced... people complained about it then too. Plus I'm pretty sure it's only been around for ~<2 years.

This is a really important point and isn't stated enough. People think of DNSSEC as some panacea that "fixes" DNS, but it really does nothing of the sort. Moxie gave an absolutely fantastic talk at Blackhat a few years ago in

I think you missed the point. 30 years from today (January 24th, 1984) is celebrating the release of the original Macintosh, which was the first modern personal computer. Of course there have been "bad Apples" along the way — the
