The crux of the problem is data and latency, right? I imagine it's infeasible to have a hybrid architecture the way cloud providers structure their networks and pricing today.

It's actually webserver-neutral, implemented entirely in PHP and Javascript. The basic idea is that each "pagelet" does its own data fetching and rendering and returns a thunk of HTML, js & css dependencies, onload hooks, etc, as a data

It's more complicated than that and I'm talking and about edge caches in general here, not for my employer. I once saw a Flickr employee (Cal Henderson?) pluck the original Ludicorp logo out of Yahoo's edge caches. That's not to mention ISP

I'll look into what's happening, but in general it's expensive / complicated to delete from edge-caching CDNs. If there is a photo that gets constant traffic, the edge caches will do their job of keeping it around. Poking around the Googles

A friend of mine wrote a reservation system for the Aloha Airlines. (Aloha is now out of business, but I don't think that was the reason. :D) Ping me (email in my profile), maybe he can give you some advice and / or contacts.

This is truly beautiful stuff. ( Buying five copies for my mother. ) A surprising thing: I use a lot of links and footnotes, which don't translate well to print. If writing for both print and web, I think my style would change quite a bit,

And in general, minority investors should always be handled with the assumption that they can and will do arbitrary things to kill deals. And then, they will sue you. :( It's not that bad all the time, but prepare for the worst and hope for

Fair enough. I hope that everyone learns English too. But I also hope that if it does happen, it does not happen at gunpoint or to the exclusion of other languages, cultures, literary and oral legacies. That is what happened when Old Englis

I'm not sure if you are joking, but language is highly political. You could say that language is the root of cultural, and thus national and ethnic, identity. Language domination tends to follow political, trade, and economic domination. Th

Please reconsider. Also reconsider serving data from olark.com and, generally, try to reduce your attack surface. There are too many "javascript viruses" running around already.

I know nothing about Twitter, but in general it's simple. If there are 199 employees, you can't give the 200th more than 0.5%, else that would be unfair, right? That person would have to be something really special, like a CEO or VP, to exp
