The two analog mediums I mentioned are both pretty flawed and difficult to get clean sound out of. Digital isn't inherently bad. There was a time when recording engineers salivated over stereo CDs and all the problems that just went aw

Can I get a DSP filter or something to simulate tape and skip the tape :-) It seems like everything about records and tape is not really technically superior and the sound signature could be emulated.

I would settle for a password manager that can do basic password management. Secure, UI that loads quickly without bugs, autofill that works. Tried switching to 1Password and it duplicates every single password I imported from LastPass. Con

As long as competition remains real I think there will always be a manufacturer or model that gives you close to what you want. Mazda for example has stuck with physical controls and hasn't been making any noises about pushing a bunch

Someone needs to summarize the history of Gunkid and the tactical wheelbarrow. Entertaining stuff although apparently they are in jail now.

Didn’t even know screen cheating was a thing. That is just how the game was played. No player is at a disadvantage.

Latest market moves changed my net worth by 3.5% (from peak). In 12 years of investing I have never had less money than I put in. Granted cherry picking any specific time period is not very predictive. The only two prices that matter are th

Porsche's whole lineup before the latest set of refreshes was nicely physical and traditional. For example the 718 Cayman/Boxster supports Carplay so you get all the good aspects of digital, but climate control, drive modes, and e

My guess is lack of metrics. If they could tell what it cost and justify it as a savings then they would do it. Most leadership is as rational as they can manage. The reality is that companies can't measure impact of individuals or sma

You don’t get a guarantee of write ordering from not just the disk (pretty much any kind) but the OS IO scheduler. Journaling filesystems can still implement atomic appends with only metadata journaling. Updating in place is generally not a

Out of the box configuration for most journaling filesystems only journal metadata not data. Journaling data cuts write throughput in half and it’s not necessary most of the time.
