Can video games provide similar benefits?

This can be implemented without storing it. They could store a hash. No idea what they actually do.

It’s really not quite like that. https://youtu.be/Dyr87--SDuc?si=EPmTEPQfFtaWV2tt The impact is more for bind and fly drones that are FCC approved so you don’t need a HAM license to operate them. To me it also looks like th

I agree. Claude Code went from being slower than doing it myself to being on average faster, but also far less exhausting so I can do more things in general while it works.

“Classical state-machine replication protocols, such as Paxos, rely on a distinguished leader process to order commands.” Isn’t that multi-Paxos? Paxos is leaderless. Very odd opening sentence.

That's just an affordability question. A nice person from the dealer picks up the car from your house and then drops it back off when they are done. You just pay the bill. Granted I DIY it all just for entertainment.

It's not a good idea if you can't afford it or it is distracting you from your real problems, but a nice car can be very fulfilling and makes the miles you are forced to drive or drive voluntarily many times more enjoyable. Gettin

You can’t for funds that are only available at a single brokerage. This describes a lot of index funds and wrapper funds.

The funds come from selling stock as it vests. Stuff already in Vanguard stays there until I feel annoyed enough to move it.

by arielweisberg 2y ago
I started using E-trade because of this instead of transferring my vested stock to Vanguard. Already had an account so it was zero effort to convert to my usual funds as ETFs which has the bonus of being transferable between brokerages unli

I started buying Bluray/UHDs as a replacement for going to the theatre and purchasing/renting digital copies and streaming. I was spending the money anyways, why not own a copy? Streaming is primarily just for specific TV shows, s

Had to log in to upvote this. The sheer arrogance of this not being obvious to people is telling. Even very stupid animals can think about the future and have anxiety which is pretty direct evidence they are thinking about the good things a

I am on Mastodon now. Not sure I want to? I don’t want much and Mastodon lets me shout into the void just fine. Social networking with people I know is so fragmented now it feels like no service really matters.

My mother ran a senior family home for 15 year. Private business founded by her. I do not want to end up in a Medicaid paid for nursing home or family home. Even the stories of her residents coming from other expensive family homes were hor

In a country with not much of a social safety net and runaway medical/elder care costs is there really another option? You need to sock away massive amounts of money as quickly as possible if you want to reduce tail risk and as a side

I think the main pain point is going to be that you can't download content to watch on a plane. I checked and I can't do that in MacOS Safari.

Pension plans as they were are still kind of bad because they could be mismanaged in a variety of ways. Pensions are kind of always problematic because you take control away from people and give it to people with misaligned incentives. It&#

Elite is kind of tragic in that there are serious steps backwards in performance, VR, and visuals that they just don’t fix things. A lot of great gameplay mechanics have been added over the years, but it hasn’t all been forward progress. No

Chris Fix has a video showing how to replace all the cells on a Prius battery. It's not the hardest DIY thing I have seen by a large margin. I recall seeing a single cell replacement video a while back as well, but don't remember

Sure, but what is it doing to productivity for those who remain? What is the opportunity cost of maintaining the extra office space vs using that money for other things such as travel so people can actually meet the people they work with?

MA and NY both require a license to possess any kind of smokeless powder firearm. MA allows black powder without a license and I am not going to guess what NY allows.

Massachusetts and New York both require a license. Basically in locations where possession of a firearm is restricted to licensed persons the ammunition is also typically licensed. The exception is locations where only some types of firearm

I have had the opposite experience. Many domains where it can’t produce correct code (counting BitSet, WatchOS apps), or doesn’t even begin to understand (distributed consensus). When it works it is great. When it doesn’t gap can be large.
