Scrollbars are completely disabled in Firefox on the front and docs page. In Chromium there's only horizontal scrollbars in the code snippets. Looks intentional to me: html { overflow-y: scroll; scrollbar-width: none; &

AmigaOS has no memory protection whatsoever. If your program crashes, so does the entire machine. And it will possibly bring your hard drive with it, too. Not unworkable, but not the most relaxed environment for fast’n’fun cowboy coding. Yo

Abstraction is beneficial and profitable up to a certain point, after which upkeep gets too hard or expensive, and knowledge dwindles into a competency crisis - for various reasons. I'm not saying we are at that point yet, but it feels

My hunch - it's just a hunch - is that LLM-assisted coding is detrimental to one's growth as a developer. I'm fairly certain it can only boost productivity to a certain level - one which may be tedium for more senior develope

Different tools for different tastes. Some programmers prefer Emacs, some vim, some Visual Studio Code. Some authors still use mechanical typewriters, others prefer Word. Others like word processors but feel bogged down by Word's many

After having tried several approaches to minimalist text authoring, such as FocusWriter and pure text editors, WordGrinder is now my preferred tool for the job. Running in an xterm it's fast, distraction free and easy to use.

You're right. I'm lying. You passed the test. Anyone who remembers a less commercialized, plaintext Internet is a stooge planted by Big Unix.

Perhaps. But it was heartfelt nonsense, without people trying to "monetize" or build "clout". If someone had joined an IRC channel in 1996 and started advertising cosmetics, they would've been kickbanned faster than

Cold booting my 7 MHz A600 to a fully loaded, functional and responsive desktop takes 17 seconds from hard drive (I just measured). Pretty decent, I'd say. There's plenty about Amiga that is and/or feels instant. My workhorse
