I don't know about the implementation details, but even the use case is slightly different, as the discussed techs are also meant to transfer larger amounts of data. At the same time, mobile push is more about triggering synchronizatio

I wonder why mobile push notifications are just a side-note in this article as mobile clients are responsible for a large part of the global traffic.

I am not convinced there even is a missing piece. I mean, LLMs are being used very differently compared to how traditional AI programs were written. Combining both worlds might be all that is needed. I would not be surprised that when we

Some software might even get more readable by using minification and this tool afterward :-D At least it would bring some normalization to variable and function names.

I switched from listening to music to listening to audiobooks (Audible, Blinkist). It sounds simple, but for me, it is a game changer. Suddenly I look forward to the commute and the 50 minutes I follow the cars in front.

Thanks again. I changed my Klipper configuration (the KDE clipboard application) to synchronize selection and clipboard. In addition, I added a global shortcut (F1) to execute this little script: https://bpa.st/WORA It read

Thanks, xclip was the tool I was looking for. Sadly I switched to Plasma 6 two days ago and Wayland doesn't seem to have a similar tool (wl-paste just reads from the clipboard and not from the selected text). After so many years, Wayla

It depends on what a standard Linux environment is and what you will need it for. I mean Android is some kind of Linux and with Termux you can get it a bit more Debian-like from a terminal perspective. But I haven't seen anybody start

It has been a while and Ente probably progressed too, but I remember that I looked multiple times at Ente. However, one feature that I love about PhotoPrism is the performance. I have about 120.000 pictures on my Raspberry Pi and for the mo

I tried Ente a while ago but decided I liked a self-hosted Photoprism instance better.

How about PhotoPrism? ;-) No, honestly I am impressed at the performance with which my RaspPi 4 is running a PhotoPrism instance with about 120.000 photos. This might also be thanks to the application software, but still quite a feat.

I am not entirely sure, but I believe the F-Droid version uses a different push technology, which can lead to slightly different app behavior/compatibility/battery usage. I used it for some years, but I switched to the Play Store

When I see comments like this one, I think that we should do Show HN posts like: 'I intend to build an app Airdrop-for-Android, what are the most important features' ;-) It feels like very often when I see a Show HN project, the H

Due to concepts like 'trust-based working hours' employees learn to monitor how much time they spend working. So when you get more time as an employee, you don't spend it on the company, which doesn't pay you more. Inste
