This is like opposing software because it is "copyrighted generally useful technical information". You should rather oppose patentability of life, or advocate for a hack analogous to copyleft, than oppose the technology.

Sometimes slow is forgivable if things are fun. For example, I enjoy walking to the farmers' market, though it would be faster to order food for delivery. But I don't enjoy driving, parking, and picking packaged goods from a wareh

People can and do sue Google all the time for violating laws and their own policies for Gmail. Turns out they rarely have a legitimate case, but the point is that Google is not unaccountable except in the imaginations of cynical paranoiacs

I see discussion in this thread about what makes sense or seems reasonable, but no empirical observations. Two examples that come to my mind would be acetaminophen and coral snake antivenin. The former is widely available as a generic, the

I did something like this in college, and I was thinking semantic annotations would be an editorial pass like copyediting. These days you'd probably let some ML system take a crack at it before using human effort to bring the quality u

If you are a company that is rarely at fault, then it would be great to be able to separate risk from fault and take the customers that your competition is overcharging.

I disagree with the characterization of SF as forward-thinking. There are many people with big ideas and willing to undertake risky endeavors, but there are also many people who vehemently resent "techies." I think most SF citizen
