I happen to think that because the leverage is greater, the reward for hiring highly skilled & talented engineers is much greater than it ever was. All the products mentioned were functionally simple and I like billyhoffman's expla

I cannot believe that this post by Sam Gerstanzang, a partner, speaks for a16z. I certainly hope it doesn't get much traction internally and there have been a few internal notes explaining to him the number of ways he is wrong. What I

Perhaps you are correct, but why worry about what others think of you? Find your people, enjoy life and make stuff.

Skype retained its value and even became more valuable, but that doesn't mean it made strategic sense for a marketplace / e-commerce company.

I think the notion that a company such as HP could be led by someone who is not irrefutably passionate about technology is flawed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meg_Whitman Nothing about her bio suggests any sincere interest in technology.

Let's not cheer this nonsense. This could be a tabloid article about "Showbizz revival spawns businesses to services stars". I mean StackExchange as a startup to serve startups? Can't be serious.

I am not an expert either. It is one thing to argue that valuations are high and another thing to argue that silly ideas are being funded. I don't see any evidence that the bar for getting funding has been lowered. I know perfectly good tea

You've made some pretty awesome observations. Having said that :) I'd like to point out that there were more than 700 attendees at StartupCamp last month. A relatively good portion of those people were not skeptical at all about business am

When your default market is multilingual, you don't just translate your software, you deal with supporting more than one language from the start. I don't know how many markets are bilingual by default. I'm not saying that internationalizati

I think you're exaggerating. Parisians may tease Quebecers, but that's just to keep themselves in teasing shape. Teasing is a sport, you gotta practice. Most French people will be able to understand most Montrealers. It should be noted that
