It really fascinates me how the "other" clientele of HN operates. The world of networking, marketing yourself, creating a resume of sorts through your blogging. I'm just some dude with a decent job occasionally writing blog p

I've seen this sentiment a lot, and it's always confused me a bit. I only use Jellyfin as well, I've never really seen the appeal of the *arr stack. I really don't see the appeal of having a firehose pointed at my Jellyf

Balatro recently published a mobile version of their game, but I was under the impression Love2D only supported desktop platforms. Has that changed?

This is really interesting. As an aside, someone has created a GBA toolchain for the Nim language as well. It's really cool seeing these projects for a variety of languages. https://github.com/exelotl/natu

It's a real shame, I would be happy to buy DRM-free movies digitally, but afaik there is no marketplace for big name films. The studios certainly don't want it and the streaming services removed large demand for it (at least until

Very interesting find. I think it's not uncommon to find many eras of artifacts in the same site, simply because sites ranging back even to the neolithic continue to be used as time goes on. My layman assumption is that this was a dece

I dont think so, they own a lot of these games and IP's outright, and most don't have licensed content. I think they're doing the same thing they did when they removed the Sonic titles from the collection a few years ago -- t

I'm actually quite a fan of perennial calendars like that, I think the Ethiopian calendar is a much more logical system than the Gregorian system.

Fun stuff! This sort of thing is how I got into understanding retro software. Digging around with .tbl files trying to find interesting bits of text, finding out how the data structures work. This article would've been very useful to m

Hey, I still use my Mini-Disc deck! Sometimes! Funnily enough, while I like the format and would be willing to get an official release of Dookie on it, it's not really worth the hassle for a single track, especially I could just as eas

Keep in mind that they did originally pick Debian. SteamOS 1 & 2 were Debian based (used for their ill-fated Steam Machine and Steam Link products), then switched to Arch-based for SteamOS 3

I've been following development of a 3D racing game for the Playdate - https://mastodon.gamedev.place/@2DArray/113070310047102734 . The console is presented as being 2D-centric, but I'm curious to see what cre
