Cost is the only thing that matters. I don't believe the budgets of today's movies are any smaller than they were before CGI, CGI artists are very much expensive and there are tens of thousands of them working on a movie.

As a manager I feel my days are always short, I work in a big company and have 1:1s with other departments to develop relationships, to try to influence other team’s roadmaps , to check how other people are doing that used to be on my team

Yes, this and having such a big consul cluster where the recommendation is to have more smaller clusters. That said, could've happened to anyone and it was a great write up.

Maybe pitch less work for your team? Set more realistic goals ? Fight for them? Not every business is a startup fighting to survive or grow like hell within a year. Some businesses have been around for decades and are in a comfortable place

This list of : socialist or communist governments now: makes absolutely no sense. Mexico? Portugal? Argentina? Why don't you add Sweden, or even Canada by the same standards?

100+ person but how many devs? It doesn't feel reasonable for a CTO to be coding 50% of their time. Coding is usually the lowest impact / ROI activity one can have after having a couple of folks under them.
