(Render founder) The HN title doesn't reflect the title/content of the blog post, which is a launch announcement for fully managed Redis on Render. We didn't submit the post, so we'll need @dang to edit it.

We'll get there! We have 4 regions now, with a fifth one coming soon.

Clustering/HA is next on our list. We wanted to get the core release out quickly so customers can avoid mucking around with their own Redis container deploys.

Coincidentally, we just had a scoping meeting for Render Postgres v2. PITR/HA are both top of mind.

Our Redis offering is covered under the BSD-3 clause. We do not include Redis modules that need a Redis Labs license, but it isn't a problem in practice for the vast majority of Redis use cases (caching and queueing).

This means all hosted applications/APIs using Render's native environments have access to redis-cli in both the web shell and over SSH.

(Render founder) Hi HN, we built our managed Redis service for people who already use Render to host their apps. You can of course use it from outside Render, but ideally you'd use the Redis internal URL (e.g. redis://red-l

(Render CEO) what kind of backend controls would you like in Render? FWIW, we now have 4 regions in GA and will continue to add more over time.

Our customers at Render run Tailscale in user mode every day. Here's the repo they use: https://github.com/render-examples/tailscale . An example of using Tailscale to access VSCode in the cloud: https://

Thanks for pushing us at Render. We want to make sure we build it right (updating the dashboard without too much special casing is a bit more involved than a CLI update) but we're certainly on it, especially now that we have managed Re

Completely agreed on building/offering higher-level services like SQS, SNS, S3. We're only at ~10% of where I want the platform to be, which is also why we're hiring quite aggressively!

Hiring a (good) DevOps or infrastructure engineer is harder and more expensive than you might think. That said, you can go very far with stateless apps at the edge with regional read replicas and a single write instance that's half way

When it comes to free tiers, this is definitely a big differentiator. We've heard so many horror stories (many on HN) about developers ending up with a massive bill on AWS and other providers even when they thought they were on a free
