We (Render) announced our $20 million Series A yesterday: https://render.com/blog/render-series-a . Why not $150M? All these companies were founded ~4 years before Render and it takes time to build to the point where th

Great point and clearly coming from experience! This is partly why we moved on from Vultr and Equinix Metal. We'll blog about our new setup soon.

We had to change the title to reflect HN guidelines: > If the title includes the name of the site, please take it out, because the site name will be displayed after the link. I agree with the Kubernetes indictment, but at this point, AWS

The biggest things ended up being Managed Redis, APAC regions, and SSH access, all of which would be available later this year. We'll likely start working on object storage early next year.

(Render founder/post author) Thanks. We already have features Heroku apps don't [1]; with many more features in the pipeline, it'll only get easier to convince your customers even if you ignore the huge cost difference. [1]

While this is an impressive technical achievement, it's worth taking a step back to ask why IAM needs to serve 400M API calls every second when AWS has between one and two million active users. How would this number change if IAM wer

> Hey anurag, big fan of Render! Thanks Connor! Did you consider creating CNAME records with your existing DNS provider to point to the target cluster proxy for each repl.co subdomain?

Interesting! How do you handle apex custom domains with registrars that require an A record?

It's not just CI providers: we're seeing the same thing on Render ( https://render.com ) and I bet Heroku and AWS are all equally impacted.

Great article and certainly worth an update! Specifically for Render, you can now: 1. Specify a TTL on inactive PRs 2. Pick less expensive plans for preview services.

Testing in 'production' has been possible for a while: Heroku has Review Apps, and Render (where I work) has Preview Environments [1] that spin up a high-fidelity isolated copy of your production stack on every PR and tear it down

feedback.render.com is as close to a public roadmap as we'll get. Big fan of Canny: it plays a big role in our product prioritization. Private registries likely in 2021; we're actively hiring! https://render.com/jo

Just came across this comment (I work at Render). We did have 2 hours of downtime on 9/11 but it was the only big uptime incident in 2020, and we haven't had any major incidents since (even when AWS was down for 5+ hours). We'
