It is not the same incident. This was for the global outage of google, not for the Gmail incident.

I think the os image distribution is a way to reduce support and improve quality. It is much easier to check that the result is working in the lab rather than test packages and setup instructions. One thing you could eventually do if you wa

I am not sure what your concern ab ou it uniqueness is: encrypti on has to be invertible, therefore if each non encrypted integer is unique, it means that each encrypted representation is also unique. w.r.t encryption cost, I think AES is v

Swiss French speaker here. This expression is usually used to mean "There is no rush", or "relax we have time". Switzerland is quite slow to change.

I don't think I agree with you. Systems have been evolving, some are being deprecated, rewritten, etc. It might be true that the OSS world has been catching up so it is worth less to have a custom made solution. But the fact that syste

It went through a re-design recently. I don't think I would call it a well-guarded secret though, if you look at Phabricator's Differential, it is very similar [0]. [0] https://www.phacility.com/phabricator/di

No. Type A ports are only capable of 5V delivery, and this requires 12V. USB-C is a mess.

When I was in university, we used Logisim[0] for our intro to digital logic class. I think you could probably simulate such a computer in this tool if you wanted something intuitive. Otherwise you can prepare your design in a high level log

It might be for usability reasons: having your video conferencing application tell you "Your webcam appears to be disabled by the privacy switch, is that intentional?" probably saves a lot of time in tech support calls.

If you don't know it, CMake can use ninja instead of make for compilation so instead of "mkdir build && cd build && cmake .. && make" you can run "mkdir build && cd build && cmake

The repository linked mentions that each stage should cost about $500k and there are 4 stages. You can argue that he is not asking for it, but at least he is valuating it at $2M.

Note that the article is specifically talking about testing accelerated code. This is usually using machine-specific features, meaning it won't run on a graphic card. I am also not sure about how fast you are if you need to transfer da

Well scanning has some useful security research applications. The part about scanning the whole internet is useful if you want to do larger scale research (like how many % of the internet run telnet). In addition massscan is really interest

A way to work around this is to normally work with short term certificate (24h) and allow your systems people to generate longer term certificates (one month) that are stored encrypted on their laptop or usb key. That way you get both emerg

I wondered how much it was, and did a quick search. Apparently Sundar Pichai (Alphabet) had a total comp equivalent to ~0.13% of the revenue, and Tim Cook (Apple) was at 0.05%. So Mozilla's CEO is at 3 to 10 times more than those two e

It is possible to hook custom compilers if you run compiler explorer locally, at least I sort of remember using that in a previous role. Sounds like it could be useful for your use case.

The issue is that LANG -> IR is a lossy transform: some constructs are lost, some language specific optimization passes could be applied, etc. Going from LANG1 -> LANG2 starts with more information, so it could in theory work better.

You can define EIGEN_USE_BLAS and then Eigen will delegate matrix operations to BLAS routines (such as gemm) instead of its own engine [0]. Then, you could link your program to a BLAS implementation written in Fortran. However, when I last
