I found that a 'refreshing' read - reveling in the old-school sysadmin wizardry, after so many years of livestock-over-pets thinking. This server sounds like the ultimate pet. It's just nostalgia though, I can't imagine

I remember reading "Learning Python" in the 1.5 days and then a bit later properly using Python the 2.0 days. It seemed a lot simpler back then, and seemed like a clean powerful successor to the 8bit BASICs I started with. And not

There's a difference between happy to have that pay and being happy at work. It's also not just the programming itself. I would turn down 7 digit compensation if it was going to mean intense burn out, depression and/or anxiet

It wasn't until a few years ago that I properly understood that somewhat trite line. It isn't implying that a good workman has the skills to work wonders with bad tools, it's that a good workman will make damn sure they won&#

I was thinking about this the other day. One element that makes a successful senior is distinguishing fads from trends early enough, rather than just good from bad. Trends and fads can look pretty similar in the early days, and trends often

To me (another native english speaker) it's not that pronouncing "libre" is hard, but that then combining it with "office" makes for a clunky awkward mouthful. Whereas "open" and "office" flowed
