Ah, shoot :( That's such a shame! (that they died, not that they didn't ever get to use HTTPS).

Could this be a way to cheaply improve low-cost camera lenses? Aberration at wide apertures is oft a criteria that people avoid them due to (other than lack of sharpness).

This is the thing that seemed most crazy to me. They are actually adjusting the wheel in the dropout whilst zipping along in a scrunched over position. Seems like if you messed up couldn't the axle pop out of the dropout with horrendo

I like the global state of mind idea, however, I feel that it isn't purely due to this state - I think the depressive state is something that comes around due to lots of other factors such as your life, your health, your physical bra

Well yeah, due to not having the time to take a train, and not having the money to fly with a nice airline.

Nobody flys Ryanair unless they have to. That said, I have seen many places I never would have, if they hadn't existed.

TfL has also become a partisan issue because the Conservative government sees it as an arm of the usually Labour controlled Greater London Authority. For instance, when commuters were begging for TfL to take control of the garbage South Eas

It's a perfectly acceptable serif typeface (Adobe Castlon Pro), laid out with reasonable spacing and leading and a generous column width. What are you complaining about? Does your computer have terrible text rendering? I think it looks

I like the idea, it's cute and could be a whole new way for more physically minded people to get into publishing, but my qualms are: $8.25 seems a little steep for a simple blog. Perhaps if it was actually the price of a coffee ($3-5

How does Windi compare with Tailwind JIT?

This looks lush. One request - a filter for genderless names would be amazing. I have no idea what my kids will want to identify as so having something gender neutral seems like a gift.

I avoided web react like the plague (always veered towards React Native projects) until I found TailwindCSS. Now I enjoy web again. The wonderful thing that it gives you is some natural feeling constraints.

This seems like a step backwards, it's procedural rather than declarative, very wordy, seems like it has all of the disadvantages of CSS and none of the advantages of anything else

Fun fact, Dolby Atmos support is very much pushed now, not sure how long it has been like this but it says it on the box so perhaps a software update?

Right, I've bought an Apple TV 4K! I have a 28.99GB H.265 5.1 Atmos MKV file of Linux tutorials that I would like to play on it, sitting on my MacBook. What is the most painless way to play it on the Apple TV with no loss of quality (o

So what exactly is the system? You transfer the MKVs to your phone via a cable somehow? Is there any quality hit?
23. 893.▲
    by antihero 5y ago

I like Spotify Connect as it is easy to transfer from desktop to TV

    by antihero 5y ago

I'm interested - how do you transfer the 4K MKVs to the Apple TV?
25. 895.▲
    by antihero 5y ago

I couldn't work out how to do this. I usually just use IINA and an HDMI cable but it's non-ideal - I figured it would require re-encoding or something and sucking on quality. If you have a solution I'm all ears!
26. 896.▲
    by antihero 5y ago

I can, shame it doesn't support MKV properly, though!
27. 897.▲
    by antihero 5y ago

Yeah the USB is the kicker. I want to avoid using some crap like Plex, so unless there's a super simple and reliable way of streaming 4K MKVs over the network it is nice to use the pendrive. I suppose the TV can still use the pendrive

Is there a UK available streaming device that supports: - AirPlay (audio/video) - Spotify Connect - YouTube 4K - USB MP4 (& MKV) - Netflix 4K - Amazon Prime 4K And is super polished & responsive? If so I'd be interested, b

I wouldn't say useEffect is a footgun, it just requires realising that React is doing shallow comparisons.
