There is only one explanation I can think of and I am not sure I believe it myself: Apple fan boys at work?

Sounds like pretty much any media in any state, USA included... Replace the names of the countries and you will get your regular CNN.

To play a devil's advocate: it might be better if you DON'T "keep your inner asshole at bay for one week". If those people didn't like the way they were, they would have changed themselves already anyway. On the oth

I get this: Offline Site: jvns.ca You have requested a site that is currently offline. This generally happens when a site is temporarily disabled for some reason, but has not been permanently removed...

Not just in USA, but in most "developed" countries. Robots are usually also more accurate and make fewer mistakes.

DON'T! Just don't. Encrypting user credentials in JS is probably even worse than parsing HTML with regular expressions: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1732348/regex-match-open-... Just send it in cle

HDFS didn't have append at the time, not sure how it is now. It did have some filesystem journalling though (if I remember correctly), we just didn't know we should turn it on.

You rule! This is such a simple solution to combat incompetent designers who think they should never use black... No more fiddling in Firebug just so I can read some text at maximum contrast. Thank you! :)

I like your analogy, very fitting. To their defense however they are far from the only ones to do that... I lost about 2h worth of production data with HBase in just the same way - fortunately I didn't want to trust it completely anywa

Hmmm... This kind of editing is great for trivial examples or when inputting text through tablet/phone and it beats WYSIWYG editors hands down, but for any serious work I still prefer WYMeditor: http://www.wymeditor.org/

AFAIK most of minificators also shortened variable / function names - are there any that don't do this? (take a look at minified jquery.js for instance)

This should actually help you - the less developers support IE, easier will be to find reasons for the switch.

The problem would be better named "too many customers, too much hassle and not enough income to support it". It might be wise to come up with a premium service for users who can/want to pay more. In general you don't wan

I love the way they make usual objects look good and function properly. Reminds me of Apple and its revolutions (iPhone, iPad, iPod) - but then again, I heard the founders come from Apple?

Sure you can - you just write it in another DIV, positioned above your triangle. Or did I misunderstand you? The beauty for me is not in the hack itself though, it is in the way it is presented - I adore the simplicity of this approach. Kud

I don't think laziness has anything to do with it - they want you to have JS turned on. For instance Google Analytics, their powerful tracking tool, is crippled without it.
