The animations stuttered on mine for a while, now they're fine. But they're too slow! I put iOS6 and iOS7 side by side, and turned them both on from sleeping, iOS6 brought up the unlock screen instantly, iOS7's animation mean

Honestly I think you're underestimating the gall of certain businesses. These aren't big multinational chains, they're like booths that pop up and down every year, in the less salubrious parts of town. They might not do it as

Regardless of whether or not fingerprint scanners are good security wise, it's a bit silly to think that phone robbing thugs are completely dim. The way it works in my first world modern country is that there are shops everywhere that

It seems like people are disagreeing with you, but i've installed it on my 4S and the animations are stuttery and slow every now and then. Often enough for it to be annoying and noticeable.

Like I said, I don't necessarily agree with it, but it's just bad news that it's being said in the first place. I don't think many people on HN would have belittled Apple's design strengths over the last decade. I

If people's reactions to iOS7, and the keynote, are anything to go by, you could possibly argue that their pursuit of 'shininess' has overtaken their pursuit of innovation and novelty, which now makes it look like they'r

Really? The way I remember it was that the Lumia 920 was hyped up massively online. If people didn't like WP8, they at least admitted that the camera looked amazing. The buzz seemed to die before it even launched though..

Stupid question: the reason he's questioning the equal probability of 1111111 being drawn is because it seems significant. It looks like it is less likely to be drawn. But we know it is equally likely. But forgetting the actual fair

10 women out of 40 are women is prrrrobably a higher proportion than most tech companies, no? This strikes me as being a little bit...weird, and could maybe put women off..? Perhaps it could be explained in a more robust manner than saying

Is there potential for something like this to be safer than a car during a collision, ignoring the fact that it can stay upright? I presume that a car going 30 miles an hour is going to have more of an impact than a baby elephant pushing, s

That's a silly test then. Everybody needs to be motivated to work, whether their motivation is supporting a family, making money, enjoying a task etc etc. There's no inherent enjoyment to making money for somebody else.

Well i didn't make it up, but yeah i get your point. I didn't mean that i'd assume it means false, but it's still clearly counterintuitive to use a tick to encode as utf-8 when any character at all will do. A tick has an opposite, an X, a s

To be fair, and as you basically said, having “utf8=✓" is counterintuitive when it's being used as an IE hack rather than an actual descriptive parameter. I could imagine many competent enough developers seeing this parameter in someone els

Of course it positively contributes. It's the first comment to say that it's a silly way of encoding the form as utf-8 when utf8="✘" will also do the same thing, even though it's counterintuitive.
