I think the promise of a ready VC funding is all that is needed to get people to come to the San Francisco Bay Area in order to seek their fortune and build businesses in the tech industry. No cringe worthy TV show needed... but of course n

You know this is one of those times where editing the title is not helpful! The title of the project is actually "Heroku Fucking Console." The edit makes me think it's pointing to something official and it's not!

The reality is if Panic wanted to save some support calls they would synchronize posting direct download binaries to their site with app store approval. You usually don't need to budget anymore than two weeks on the outside these days for A

I live in San Francisco too and I have to say it's OK to just buy the dude a sandwich if you feel bad or go ahead and help them up if they have fallen over instead of just walking by (I'm looking at you startup kids in south park and SOMA).

The problem with these types of services for luxury goods and services is they don't provide for advanced booking deposites and cancelation fees so they are generally a non-starter for people renting out in demand vacation homes or other lu

I'm not sure you could do better than what Andrew Warner has done with http://mixergy.com I know a lot of the older ones are behind a paywall now but there are 100s of interesting folks he has interviewed over the last few years. Edit: Ov

What I do is keep an up to date generic one in google docs and then duplicate it and tweak for each company I send it out to. I usually send it as a PDF or a word doc if they ask for that specifically. Either way It's pretty easy to just ex

If the job is for what I'm doing now (iOS development) vs something I did five years ago I'll respond with a quick "I'm not looking to make a move right now but check back in n months or years." It takes about a minute and it does not hurt

It's low for the US market but I was being foolish and did not realize you were not US based. I don't think you will have any problems demanding your current 50 or even 75 or 80 an hour if you focus on the US market provided you find high q

Would you say Heroku is big on the vendor lock in too? If you stay away from the ad-ons they are really mostly just running some code and maintaining a standard database unlike say Google App Engine. I don't see how moving to say EC2 or you

You will get more money for iOS dev work than Rails work and it sounds like that's where your experience is. Also 50/hr is way too low for freelance iOS development and on the lower side for salaried position as well. That's only like 76k g

A friend of mine does this. My email is in my profile if you would like an introduction. He actually moved to Hawaii so it would probably have to be via Skype. Not 100pct sure he is still taking on students but it's worth an email.

I'm saying that long term people are better off not publishing with you and should just be cross-promoting within their own games or just using ads so they don't have to give you a cut. Every time someone does publish with you they are sett
