I said this about China trying to make chip investments but it applies to the US too. It’s extremely difficult for government to pick who should be winners with investments like this, and then the question of what is next, x-ray lithography

I think I’d really like a react-native version of this! Any plans?

Yes completely, I can't understand why Reddit hate their users so much, I find the site totally unusable and I often just leave immediately if I visit it!

It's a real shame the site is never improved due to the captive market and lack of need to make things better. I am constantly downvoting on mobile when I mean to be upvoting for example, surely they could just make the clickable area

I’ve actually come to the conclusion Apple has stopped behaving rationally here, they are behaving quite erratically.

Charging per install rather than per subscription is hilarious, almost as if all of this is designed to wind up the EU and cause the largest possible fine.

True, but I think doing something just because a lot of other people are doing it doesn’t make it good or correct.

Actually you could argue having one of your biggest defence contractors behave like this is a bigger loss to American power than holding their feet to the fire and trying to develop a more engineering focused culture.

I’m so tired of this Apple tax, I think nobody would be this annoyed if Apple were saying 10% or something around that. 30% is more than most companies pay in tax on profits and this is a tax on revenue. I don’t think abusing your market po

This could actually be pretty interesting, don’t RED have a patent on compressed raw video? I’m amazed that this patent is allowed but I guess we’ll see Nikon cameras with more advanced video features and probably increased difficulty offer

I wish we could make full frame large aperture lenses smaller, I’d sacrifice quite a bit of sharpness if this lens was 1/4 the size.

You’re forgetting that any good lawyer would do something some random on hacker news made up to support their belief the lawsuit is about AI safety.

Are you a lawyer or have some sort of credentials to be able to make that statement? I’m not sure if Elon Musk being hypocrite about AI safety would be relevant to the disputed terms of a contract.

It’s possible to come up with many strategies and different companies will. Why are you so sure that Nvidia’s strategy is right for AMD or Intel who need to offer differentiation to get over the CUDA moat?

I think the anti-woke nonsense is just the old saying the young are idiots as every generation does. Nobody is arguing for characters from history to all be non-Caucasian, it’s just a mistake!

People are making this out to be a bigger issue than it is, making LLMs less woke will be doable and this will all be yesterday’s newspapers soon enough. I think releasing stuff and experimenting in public you’re always going to make a few

I think the US printed a couple of TRILLION dollars during COVID. The money hasn’t gone anywhere so if you’re American and don’t have the $80000 per person someone else has your cash. Edit: not sure why you’re downvoting! It was actually $3

To be honest I’ve been noticing how many times chat GPT loses meaning and becomes grammatically correct gibberish. When it has really good examples this is fine but leaping into almost any new area it gets quickly out of its depth. Our brai

Well, knowing an architect quite well they have exactly the same issues as we do of poor specifications that change, quite often due to unforeseen things on site. While a single person might be smart, people in general are idiots.

Very interesting, it looks a lot like the Elixir package Ecto that has a DSL for writing SQL queries. Obviously there are some differences here and I wonder if the compiler can do further optimisations than Ecto can but interesting to see t
