Sure, I imagine if someone isn't already lonely, being put into such circumstances could make them lonely. But loneliness exists in conventional workplaces too! I work in an open office every day, but I'm still extremely depressed

Isaac Arthur is my absolute favorite. Every Saturday morning after I make my coffee, I sit down and am enthralled by this week's video.

It doesn't cost me anything, the new terms are perfectly clear and sufficient, and hopefully the new language causes less duress for other people. This discussion always seems to go bad, but changes like this are innocuous to the langu

I don't think this takes into account how helpful an action plan can be. I would never, ever go to a gathering without forthought, self coaching, and some tips for myself lined up. There's way too much social pressure and too muc

As an aside, some games on Steam are DRM free and/or can be run without steam. Stardew Valley and Kerbal Space Program spring to mind. There is also GOG, which sells DRM-free games. I just keep backups of my games on my NAS.

This all hits home, and I agree with a lot of the points on social media. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as just quitting. When I stopped using Facebook at the start of this year, my loneliness got much higher. There's less ways

There's always the GalliumOS project if you want to swap out ChromeOS. Compatibility with chromebooks overall is pretty fair. I had a collegue who got Arch linux for Arm working on a Chromebook with some caveats. Of course, the average

I prefer bangs over browser shortcuts, personally. I can expect it to work the same in every browser, so I get consistency over all my devices.

The inclusion of Ponysay over cowsay is dubious at best. Let me be clear: Ponysay has its niche. But with the Ansible stack providing great out of the box integration with Cowsay, it's clear which is the tool of choice for modern workf

Depression. I have a lot of social anxiety and I feel really isolated, my best friend passed two years ago which didn't make anything better. Isolation makes depression into a feedback loop, and it feels like you keep sinking deeper an

I have private insurance in the USA, but I'm only permitted to see a therapist once every three months. Mileage may vary, this is an anecdote, etc. But as an otherwise healthy, young individual, I really just want talk therapy to proce

Ah, that's good. I have a degree in an unrelated field and it's nice to know there isn't a true cap to self-taught development. Still, going back to school for CS is on my "someday" list.

Admittedly this is a more relaxed definition of social media than I have accepted, but I see your point! I still use Discord and Github, and the social interaction there doesn't cause the same feeling that Facebook or Twitter do. Howev

I don't think that there is a solution as easy as moving to $SOCIAL_NETWORK or $ACTIVITY_PUB_SITE. I feel currently that the issue with social media is it's hyper stimulating. Speaking from a recovering social media addict point o
