That was the bit that really stood out for me. Even if one could argue that they sent him off in order to take a break and recover before continuing his studies, this > and ban him from College grounds is ridiculous.

That's not something I expected to see on the HN front page today. I'm a Bulgarian ex-pat living in the UK (moved away not because of the corruption - though that's a problem too - but because of poor culture fit). From perso

Wow, how do you arrange 4 screens? One next to the other to form a semi circle, or a 2x2 grid? If the former, how do you avoid getting weird neck problems?

This could be a pretty good idea for a recurring post, a la Who's Hiring. Probably less regular I guess.

At least in Bulgaria, people go for whatever the word sounds like. Rough rule of thumb is, words that end in -a tend to sound feminine, words with -o tend to sound neuter. So I'd say едно Ардуино or one neuter Arduino.

How is that surprising? "Time flies when you're having fun" has been a phrase for ages. I'd kinda taken it as a given.

Yeah, it's not the best game at making clear what's expected of you. I'd say if you've managed to progress to a new room that you haven't been able to before, obtained an item, or at least learned something new (an

If you enjoy puzzle games with unique "models" of play I'd really recommend giving Antichamber a try. It's got no plot or multiple levels. You spend (almost) the entire game exploring a single level with the same consist

So I'll second what a lot of people are saying here with CBT and mindfulness. No experience with medication so I won't comment on that. I'm surprised nobody mentioned this: exercise . Seriously, instead of compulsively check

Guy with a bunch of experience (~1yr) on OKCupid here. It seems that dating apps / websites (much like real life from what I can tell) are more or less down to sheer luck. I've met a couple of amazing girls through there but, agai

I guess creepiness is a bit of a sliding scale. Maybe somehow the bot also managed to get through to a subset of women on Tinder who don't find this creepy?

Some time ago I listened to a radio documentary on Steve Reich. One bit I remember quite well was a description of the door to the room where musicians were practising for Music For 18 Musicians. Apparently it had a sign warning people to s

> When I felt GF, I felt like I was saying goodbye to friends that I'm not sure I would ever see again. That kind of feeling. To me playing GF felt like reading a really, really enjoyable novel. The plot really stands up on its own.

Thanks for sharing this. If you don't mind me asking, how did you find the experience of getting rid of that habit? What got you to finally try and defeat it?

I generally consider art to be an expression of ideas. A craft is an expression of skill. What about artforms that might not necessarily express an idea as such, but instead try to instil a mood or feeling? A normal viewer will look

I'm talking about people I've known since before I was 10, so I can say I know them pretty well. Edit: And don't even get me started about the ones who aren't progressive and open minded.
